In search of a Associate Product Engineer to join our Team!

This positions develops and designs valves, hydrants, and components under the direction of senior level engineering and production staff. Applies engineering principles, methods, and best practices in the design process. Manages self well while working under pressure.

Responsibilities
    Proactively promotes The McWane Way
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment and with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Creates detailed CAD/Engineering 3D models and drawings from sketches and verbal instructions.
  • Drafts marketing drawings and submittal drawings at the direction of the Sales department.
  • Maintains CAD drawing library and updates CAD drawings for existing products when necessary.
  • Prepares document packages as needed per customer requirements and for orders.
  • Reviews incoming Engineering Requests. Works with the Engineering Manager to determine validity and how to proceed.
  • Processes Engineering Change Notices. Works with the appropriate parties to ensure that the ECNs are implemented.
  • Designs new valves, hydrants, components, and other products as directed.
  • Produces assembly instructions for new products designed.
  • Looks for opportunities to add value by developing new capabilities/designs or improving on existing capabilities or designs.
  • Conducts engineering related tests and experiments at the direction of the Engineering Manager for products and related equipment.
  • Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, applied engineering, or other related technical field required. An Associate degree in engineering with two years of related fieldwork experience will be considered.
  • CAD drafting experience required including 3-dimensional modeling using software, such as, Solidworks, ProE or AutoCad Inventor.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and interpret mechanical drawing including dimensions and tolerances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required. Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Project preferred.
  • Metalworking Manufacturing experience is preferred.

Language Skills

Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Should be able to speak effectively to customers, management, and/or other fellow employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Must have an understanding and ability to use algebra and trigonometry to calculate such things as area, volume, angles, circumference, proportions, and percentages. Must have a basic understanding of engineering theories and formulas related to pressure, stress, and loads.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
