As the IT Software Engineering Manager, you'll be at the helm of software delivery and database administration for Applications at UW Credit Union. Your role involves orchestrating project resources, planning, and nurturing the growth of your team through exemplary leadership. Guided by the UW Credit Union Performance Management philosophy, you'll foster a collaborative environment while spearheading multiple projects to enhance operational efficiency and drive business success.

Your duties will encompass supervising the upkeep of UW Credit Union's core banking software and internally developed applications, along with managing database administration tasks and ensuring adherence to coding standards. Moreover, you'll play a pivotal role in cultivating the distributed application development team by actively steering the career paths of department members. Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Establish and enforce departmental policies and procedures to drive consistent, efficient performance.
  • Spearhead the evolution of software engineering activities, fostering innovation in processes, programs, and services.
  • Define and uphold software engineering standards, fostering high-quality solutions consistently.
  • Implement agile methodologies to oversee full project lifecycles effectively.
  • Collaborate with IT and Internet Services leadership to ensure cohesive alignment across technology teams, spanning operations, product management, user experience, quality assurance, and development.
  • Stay informed about emerging technology trends, providing insightful recommendations to business units to achieve their goals efficiently.
  • Evaluate and recommend technical integration solutions from vendors, guiding business units throughout project lifecycles for optimal outcomes.
  • Coordinate with various IT departments to ensure seamless capacity planning, hardware/software maintenance, and compliance with software solutions.
  • Collaborate with Project Services, Internet Services, and IT leadership to analyze, execute projects, and develop software solutions aligned with business objectives, standards, and audit requirements.
  • Responsible for essential leadership duties, including but not limited to, inclusive excellence, responsibility and accountability, effective communication, teamwork, high-performance mindset, business acumen, recruitment and retention, change leadership and coaching and development.
Qualifications

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, business administration, finance, or related field.; relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
  • 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering / Applications Development
  • 4+ years of experience in leadership
  • 4+ years of experience in large scale enterprise-wide project involvement
  • Database Administration background
  • Experience in agile project management methodology
  • Ability to translate strategic goals into tactical execution
  • Expertise in research, analysis, problem solving, design and delivery of both client/server and web-based solutions.
  • Fundamental knowledge of database platforms, patch management, and security best practices
  • Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • Confident, self-starter that is curious and creative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to write clear, concise memos/email, facilitate staff meetings, and give presentations.
  • Ability to identify and track key metrics that drive a high performing team.
  • Ability to provide support to staff participating in an on-call rotation or off-hours support and address escalation of issues.
