Job Summary:

The Bao Lab (www.thebaolab.org) is seeking a motivated individual to join the team. The lab uses human skin as a research platform to study gene regulation in tissue regeneration and disease progression. The scope of this RT1 position include the following: Conducts tests and procedures; sets up and operates equipment; records observations and measurements and collects and compiles data in a research lab; requires a practical understanding of a limited number of standard scientific techniques. This will be a 1-year renewable position based upon performance and funding availability. This position is a FULL-TIME position at 40.0 hours per week and works on-site in research laboratory setting. Target hiring range for this position will be between $16.55 - $23.28 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Follows pre-defined protocols, policies, procedure, regulations, Good Clinical
  • Sets-up, operates and maintains standard lab equipment.
  • Using an entry level of skill, completes the following activities

Molecular Biology:

  • DNA, RNA, Protein isolation, purification and expression
  • Southern, Northern, Western blotting
  • PCR, RT-PCR
  • Plasmid preparation
  • Cloning, mapping and sequencing of DNA
  • Recombinant virus production and purification
  • Next-generation sequencing library construction and

Cellular Biology:

  • Cell culture, cell isolation
  • Functional studies
  • Transfection

Immunology:

  • Flow cytometry

Animal:

  • Husbandry Surgical procedures Database management of colony

Histology:

  • Tissue fixation/processing: embedding, preparation of blocks and sectioning, staining Immunohistochemistry

Microscopy:

  • Records test results and may maintain databases.
  • Completes standard and routine clerical duties such as copying, filing, data

entry, word processing, etc.

  • Maintains inventory of reagents, mice and lab supplies
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

  • HS diploma or equivalent and some basic science courses is required.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Organization and planning skills, able to follow directions, open communication.
