Job Description

Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking a Project Manager - Structural Engineerto lead our growing structural engineering team in Portsmouth, NH. This position will provide managerial leadership and be the technical lead on a range of project types and assist structural engineering staff in the completion of day-to-day projects. The candidate's work will include leadership, management, computer modeling of building foundation and superstructure systems, design of structural elements, preparation of structural drawings, and construction administration services.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work with the division manager to progress towards a structural design team leadership role, that would be including performance management, career development, mentoring, staffing, and merit planning. Progression towards this role will be in accordance with a development plan prepared by the division manager that includes specific goals and metrics.
  • Provide project and technical oversight for activities performed by the team.
  • Provide proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers.
  • Communicate effectively with both team members and internal/external clients and stakeholders.
  • Structural analysis, design and detailing for all types of buildings and materials using a variety of building codes.
  • Coordination of design work with in-house staff as well as other design professionals including Architects and other Engineering disciplines.
  • Preparation of construction documents within a BIM environment. Apply standard structural engineering design principles and sound engineering judgment to complete projects.
  • Design of structural elements for building construction and specialty structural systems for industrial clients.
  • Task planning, conducting technical peer reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Structural or Civil Engineering. Master of Science degree a plus.
  • Eight years of relevant experience in structural analysis and design. Management experience is not a requirement, but a desire to learn and refine team leadership skills is necessary.
  • Knowledge of concrete, steel, and masonry design codes, as well as local and national building codes required.
  • Knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
  • Ability to work in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong interpersonal, problem solving, and team skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, walking, hiking, and standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time.
  • Mobility control of hands to setup equipment, handle samples, and operate tools.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.
