Job Description:

Microchip is seeking a Technical Staff Engineer - Applications to join the 32-bit Microprocessors (MPU32) Business Unit (BU) and be a key contributor to the Systems Applications Team. Our end applications target automotive modules including electric vehicles and electric vehicle charging, industrial, and commercial applications. Our team focuses on solutions for the emerging megatrends of machine learning, IoT, EV, autonomous driving, and data centers. The group is comprised of a global team of highly motivated, results-oriented experts, working in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate and contribute in cross-functional teams for New Product Development
  • develop Whole Product Support plans and monitor deliverables and requirements across the BU.
  • Develop firmware and hardware to support customers.
  • Create development boards and reference designs.
  • Develop documentation, training, promotions, and presentation materials for customers and field support team members.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Software, Computer Engineering or equivalent required; Master's or Ph.D. preferred
  • 12+ years of ARM-based Microprocessor experience
  • Assembly/C/C++ Programming in an embedded environment
  • Hands-On Hardware development using MPUs, PMICs, SiPs, and modules
  • Working knowledge of Functional Safety is a plus
  • Testing and/or troubleshooting and/or understanding of EMI/EMC
  • Bare metal software development
  • Linux, FreeRTOS, mBed, or other embedded OS experience is a plus
  • Working with communication channels such as CAN, I2C, SPI, and UART is a plus
  • Team player, but also able to work independently with minimal supervision
