Job Description

MMD Medical, a Velosity Company is searching for a Swiss Machinist to support our manufacturing facility in Brooklyn Park, MN on our weekend night shift. A Swiss Machinist is responsible for set ups and operation of Swiss Machines per work instructions and set up sheets. This position is also responsible for monitoring and adhering to quality standards per the quality manual.

Shift: Friday - Sunday, 5pm - 5am

Typical pay range: $28.00-$34.00 (including shift premium). This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.

This is an on-site position.

Essential Duties:

  • Follow job traveler standard rates and report out using hour by hour board to meet or exceed the production rate and scrap requirements as driven by the ERP system.
  • Assist level 1 machinist as needed in process specific areas to ensure they are completing product to quality and customer requirements.
  • Consistently produce accurate records of completed parts including accurate entry of scrap and nonconformance's when required into the ERP system and any hard copy requirements. This includes the use of job cards and WIP tags.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs verbally or by documenting in shift to shift transfer books.
  • Reports machine, material and quality concerns or issues to leads/ Supervisors.
  • Operate Swiss machines up to 9 axis as required per manufacturers recommendations as well as follow MMD SOP's to produce quality parts per customer prints.
  • Set up Swiss Machines on most intermediate complexity level production jobs unaided as required by work instructions and set up sheets.
  • Extensive understanding of G and M code. Some macro program knowledge. Operational knowledge of many types of machines and controls.
  • Verify all products meet quality specifications both visually by using a microscope and dimensionally in accordance with specifications or other Quality System requirements.
  • This includes the use of vision systems, CMM's as well as hand tools. Demonstrate the ability to read and understand QC calc/ SPC and use the data to perform offsets, tool changes and maintain dimensional integrity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Certificate in Machine Trades or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • 2+ years of experience, preferably in a Medical Device or Component manufacturing environment
  • Able to use a computer, calculator, read and write in English and do shop Math
  • Able to use measuring instruments such as scales, calipers, dial indicators

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds

Work Environment Requirements

  • Manufacturing environment, exposure to heat, noise, dust, dirt, oil and water

Licensing/Registration/Certification:

  • Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.
