Job Description

As a Production Technician at our seed processing plant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facility. Your responsibilities will include performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting machinery, and addressing mechanical issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency. You will work closely with the maintenance team and other departments to uphold safety standards, optimize equipment performance, and contribute to the overall success of our seed processing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on processing equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting machinery to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to identify and resolve issues promptly, minimizing production disruptions.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance according to established schedules to prevent equipment failure and maintain operational reliability.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to assess equipment condition, identify potential problems, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members to prioritize and address maintenance needs efficiently, ensuring minimal impact on production schedules.
  • Document maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts usage, accurately and thoroughly for record-keeping and analysis purposes.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times to maintain a safe work environment and prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior maintenance staff as needed, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team capabilities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize equipment performance, streamline processes, and reduce maintenance costs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant vocational training preferred.
  • Proven experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or processing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair complex machinery.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, precision instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and techniques to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance issues.
  • Basic computer skills. Able to work with various maintenance/inventory related software applications. Basic proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to maintenance emergencies as needed.
