Job Description

Organize, perform and lead in assigned department to insure all required processes, procedures, and production requirements are met. Work in harvest, receiving, conditioning, labeling, treating, packaging, or other areas as needed to meet plant needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to all applicable HSE and other corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Work in lab with seed samples conducting tare analysis, seed processing, seed counts, moisture testing, seed treating, physical purities, maintaining seed sample library, pulling samples for monthly germ updates, coordinating with WSDA for officially drawn samples, and shipping samples to various labs for testing.
  • Work in other areas including harvest, receiving, conditioning, treating, packaging, or shipping to meet facility needs.
  • Responsible for product quality assessments and adherence to product specifications.
  • Conduct seed testing and reporting activities in accordance with company quality standards.
  • A proactive response when seed is not meeting approved Product Specifications standards.
  • Assist with quality samples and quality data collection.
  • Execute sampling procedures per established procedures.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly calibrated and routinely inspected.
  • Ensure all equipment clean-downs and changeovers are done correctly to eliminate any product contamination or seed mixture.
  • Provide leadership and overall seed quality expertise to plant activities
  • All seed picked and transported to specified area is identified accurately and checked against production order. Fill all orders per production order instructions.
  • Timely execution and provisions of informational requirements
  • Proactive communication both interdepartmentally and cross functionally to assure that processing efforts are performed in a manner consistent with accommodating business demands and requirements.
  • Diligent continuous improvement processing efforts with accompanying employee motivations.
  • Uses ability as a skilled specialist to contribute in development of concepts and techniques and to complete tasks in creative and effective ways.
  • Responsible for maintaining, documenting, and adherence to established plant operating procedures.
  • Development and execution of processing plans required to meet key business strategies and product availability requirements.
  • Assist in development of a budget and the ability to execute.
  • Monitor costs as necessary.
  • Assist in presenting of all safety training classes.
  • Supervise employees and third-party personnel as required.
  • Perform other duties as required to meet plant or site needs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • AA or Bachelor's highly preferred
  • Knowledge of office functions and processes, including MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Must be able to be forklift certified
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the US

Additional Knowledge, Skills, Traits & Abilities:

  • Ability to operate state of the art conditioning, chemical and packaging equipment
  • Ability to receive a chemical applicators license.
  • Excellent analytical and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work positively and effectively with outside vendors/agencies and internal personnel and departments.
  • Working knowledge of inventory management principals.
  • Able to wear pesticide PPE; able to lift 50 lbs.; bending and stooping; frequent standing and walking including climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to work in cold, hot, and dusty conditions; work with seed treatments; shift work and weekends.
