PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designs and develops data applications and architecture to support various analytic and Business Intelligence (BI) needs of the Authority.
- Coordinates with the team in establishing an enterprise data analytics platform.
- Creates prototypes of new data analytics technologies.
- Helps implement and maintain new cloud technology solutions.
- Develops and documents analytic technology processes and best practices, including metadata, master data, data lineage, and data quality.
- Identifies and implements data standards and improvements.
- Creates and executes data quality test cases, tracks results, and analyzes results for improvement recommendations.
- Develops and maintains management reports on the analyses and recommendations of data quality test cases.
- Liaises with internal and external partners to enhance data access and related processes.
- Works with internal departments to develop optimal technical requirements for data-intensive projects and ensures that initiatives are conducted in alignment with established best practices.
- Monitors and supports data analytics processes, including Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and data warehousing troubleshooting.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Information Technology, Economics, Business or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience in business intelligence, business architecture, information architecture and strategy, and/or enterprise design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with data processing frameworks such as Hadoop or Spark preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires sitting for extended periods of time, standing, visual acumen, manual dexterity, and fingering for working with computer key boards.
- Service Area Requirement: Exempt (Non-Union) employees must live within the boundaries of the CTA Statutory Service Area either at the time of employment or within 6 months of beginning employment at CTA.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Detailed knowledge of relational data architecture, data lifecycles, ETL, structured query languages (SQL), and related methodologies.
- Working knowledge of common programming languages (Python, R, Java, PHP, etc.).
- Working knowledge of non-relational (unstructured) data technologies and techniques.
- Working knowledge of version control software and methodologies.
- Detailed knowledge of a cloud-based infrastructure such as AWS preferred.
- Detailed knowledge and experience with platforms such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle preferred.
- Working knowledge of the practices and methods of data warehousing, metadata management, data modeling, data quality, and other data management disciplines.
- Working knowledge of cloud-based data infrastructure such as AWS preferred.
- Working Knowledge of common business intelligence and visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, etc.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and other standard office productivity application skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- General office environment.
- Required to travel to field locations throughout the CTA system and Chicago area as needed.
- Subject to existing weather conditions when visiting field
- Subject to normal garage hazards such as noise, machinery, dust, grease, moving vehicles, etc. when visiting field locations.
