As an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Senior Application Engineer in Motion Drive Products, you will be responsible for providing technical sales execution through deep domain expertise to the OEM Business Development Manager, OEM customers, technical support, product engineering, R&D (Research & Development). The areas of technical sales execution include but are not limited to; ABB Low Voltage (LV) drive & PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) /HMI (Human Machine Interface) product knowledge, LV drive & PLC/HMI product application and general LV drive and motor application issues. This role can be located anywhere in US near a major airport.

Your responsibilities

  • Prioritize, schedule, delegate work assignments to ensure timely and accurate support for the application of ABB PLC/HMIs, LV drives and motors in focused applications
  • Understand commercial, technical & product initiatives, develop plans to communicate and promote them
  • Ensure OAEs (OEM Application Engineers) are technically ready before engaging with targeted OEM's
  • Goal setting with timely review and feedback. General managerial duties as required (Expense report, Safety training, PPE, etc.)
  • Establish priorities, assist with the formation of cross functional support teams
  • Understanding of ongoing customer issues and ensure timely reporting of field issues
  • Design and recommend tailored solutions based on a deep knowledge of the portfolio and capabilities to meet the OEMs' unique needs
Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) and 8 years' experience in the application of Low Voltage drives required
  • Travel up to 60% required in US
  • Previous technical sales experience with chillers, blowers and food and beverage required
  • Exceptional technical application and technical communication skills
  • Understanding of Serial and Ethernet communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Etc)
  • Programming experience in industrial PLCs (ABB, Rockwell, Siemens, Square D, or others)
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
