About the Position:

The Utility Operator will be required to work in multiple departments and will work on various shifts. Don't have the experience but are willing to learn? We are looking for you! You may be helping to run the 11,000-ton forging press making parts as hot as 2200 degrees. You might be machining parts for the aerospace industry. You could operate a swing grinder, grinding parts for the military. Or you may be operating a saw to cut Super Alloy material.

Skills and Abilities

  • Safety - knowledge of industrial safety and ability to recognize hazards and apply safety procedures common to manual material handling and operating equipment, such as hazmat, MSDS, personal protective equipment, machine tool safety. ; Work to meet and exceed OSHA requirements for safe work practices. English language - ability to read, understand, speak, write, and interpret common manufacturing/shop documents; Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions / work orders.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Judgment and decision-making to prevent errors, safety hazards, or other poor results pertaining to job duties.
  • Problem solving skills to identify problems, inform others, and provide information to assist with solving the problem.

What You'll Do:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in safe material handling using overhead cranes and wheeled equipment as required and directed. Operate grinder to remove defects, cracks, seams, laps, etc. from material.
  • Assist in process activities ( Saw Operations, Forge, Heat Treat, Processing etc..) as required and directed
  • Verify saw dimensions or weights, utilizing measurement tools or scales as required. Sets controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tensions.
  • Operates saws to cut, slot, groove, and trim work pieces according to specifications.
  • Use hand, swing and auto grinder to grind parts in accordance with the work instructions.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or need repairs to manager.
  • Perform yard duties, such as: dumping scale/scrap, arranging press tools, transporting material in, out, and around shop
  • Complete required operational data entry and maintain material traceability per operations requirements.
  • Observe all safety, health and environmental procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as required.
