Job Description
The Position

Incumbent works under the direction of the Chef Manager or designee, maintaining the food service storeroom inventory, receiving and distributing food and non-food items to the Health Center (DCHC) kitchen for preparation and delivery.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain established inventory levels of perishable and non-perishable items, submitting replacement and new requisitions.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.
  • Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.
  • Ensure receipt of ordered items and update inventory.
  • Receive and store deliveries (e.g. date and rotate items) reporting shortages or delivery issues.
  • Transport deliveries from the County warehouse to DCHC, unloading items.
  • Fulfill storeroom orders according to established delivery guidelines.
  • Perform perpetual inventory counts (e.g. storeroom cooler/freezer), identifying ordering information.
  • Report hazardous materials or food spoilage.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment submitting work orders for defective equipment or other issues.
  • Utilize software to complete assigned tasks.
  • Respond to emergency codes.
  • Comply with federal/state laws and regulations and department processes and protocols.
  • Maintain job knowledge and skills (e.g. training, webinars, seminars, meetings, conferences, continuing education).
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle when required to travel on County business.
  • Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.
  • Perform other duties as directed and assigned.
Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.*
  • Two (2) years of shipping, receiving, stocking or food service experience required.*
  • Valid driver's license upon hire and maintained throughout employment required.
  • Completion of a pre-employment criminal record check, conditional offer drug screen and physical assessment required.
  • *Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted for requirements on a year-for-year basis.

  • Work is performed in a health care facility. Noise level is usually moderate. Work hours are typically standard day-shift hours; however, schedule may vary (e.g. days, weekends, overtime/extra hours, emergency call-in). Work involves potential exposure to cold temperatures. Work may be stressful when dealing with time constraints, multiple/changing priorities, limited resources and uncooperative/irate individuals.
  • Work requires some physical activity, including extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, frequent walking, reaching, occasional balancing, kneeling and bending. Work also requires the ability to frequently lift/carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
  • Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
