Job Description

What You'll Do:

This position is responsible for the processing of mortgage loans from origination support to underwriting and on to closing. The Mortgage Loan Processor collects and analyzes necessary documents in support of Origination, Underwriting, and Closing team members, while managing the transaction to ensure closing timelines and borrower expectations are met or exceeded.

Essential Functions:

  • Review and update all data and documents in loan systems as necessary
  • Handle imports and exports of loan applications between loan systems as necessary
  • Review and deliver Adverse Action notices to borrowers, in support of Mortgage Loan Origination and/or QC Review Team Members
  • Request and obtain outstanding member loan documentation
  • Communicate, monitor, and follow-up on requests with vendors to obtain all third-party loan documentation to fulfill all pre-closing conditions as needed
  • Order and review Appraisals, Titles, and Flood Certificates for each loan application; send applicable documents and notices per department procedures
  • Order, review, and/or update ID Verification / Red Flags / Anti-fraud / UDM Drive Reports for each loan application; send applicable documents and notices per department procedures; obtain any needed supporting documentation required to clear
  • Submit and ensure completion of Mortgage Insurance applications for each loan application as applicable; update as necessary
  • Request and verify any needed changes to the above reports in preparation for final underwriting approval
  • Communicate discrepancies and/or changes to mortgage application data and assists member with resolution
  • Obtain, review and approve any open prior-to-closing loan conditions remaining after final underwriting approval; commonly reverifications of employment, insurance confirmations, updated to undisclosed debt monitoring reports, and payoffs
  • Organize and maintain all documents in electronic loan file and imaging system for underwriting and closing reviews
  • Track development of any new information to ensure continued compliance with underwriting guidelines
  • Submit loan for final approval ensuring all documentation is complete and filed in accordance with procedures
  • Follow-up with relevant parties regarding all outstanding documents needed prior to or at closing
  • Monitor pipeline status reports, taking necessary steps to efficiently move the loan through the process ensuring closing timelines are met
  • Communicate any cancellations of files to vendor partners when necessary
  • Provide and promote prompt, courteous, and effective communication among members, teammates, management, and vendor partners
  • Keep management informed of area activities and escalate any significant issues or delays
  • Assist and support other mortgage loan department team members and credit union personnel as needed
  • Be familiar with and follow all policies, procedures and processes which have been established in order to meet compliance requirements of all applicable federal regulations. The regulations include but are not limited to TILA/RESPA (TRID), the Privacy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Fair Housing Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Reg. B, Reg. C, Reg. CC, Reg. Z and the Patriot Act

Who you are:

  • Required: High school diploma
  • Required: 2+ yrs of customer or member service, preferably with a credit union or portfolio lender
  • Required: 1+ yrs of lending experience in processing, origination, or closing
  • Preferred: Basic understanding of mortgage systems, with emphasis on Mortgage Cadence, Mortgagebot, Calyx, LaserPro, Silverlake, and Freddie Mac Loan Product Advisor
  • Strong mathematical, analytical and computer skills
  • Innovative self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a contributor in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational & problem-solving skills; ability to multi-task and reprioritize objectives as needed
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Must demonstrate a professional and courteous manner while maintaining integrity and quality of service
