Job Description
American Serb Memorial Hall is seeking an experienced manager with a passion for food and hospitality to lead the iconic social and political meeting place, operating in Milwaukee, WI for nearly 75 years. The General Manager is responsible for maintaining a profitable business plan with high-quality products and exceptional service levels. The General Manager is expected to generate ideas to promote business, foster a positive work environment with low turnover, maintain revenue and payroll budgets, and meet budgeted productivity while delivering the highest levels of service in a banquet dining atmosphere. You will be responsible for effectively managing the day-to-day operations of this banquet facility.  You will be responsible for maintaining a customer-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement and high performance.
Qualifications:
  • 4+ years medium/high-volume, full-service banquet experience as a General Manager or Asst. General Manager.  College degree preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm, cool, and collected under pressure.
  • Self-actualized and motivated
  • Self-discipline; maintained professional appearance, significant attention to detail.
  • Complete understanding of NOI profitability and budget goals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Food & Beverage preparation techniques, WI health department rules and regulations, and WI liquor laws and regulations;
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office with extensive knowledge of Excel.
  • Excellent guest services skills.
  • Success in working with diverse constituencies to support an inclusive environment.
  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills including demonstrated written communication skills, the ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs. Team builder a necessity!
  • Experience in organizing and maintaining moderately complex filing, computerized record systems.
  • Good basic administrative and/or organizational skills.
  • Broad base knowledge and skills in food service management, including menu planning, cooking/food preparation operations, dining rooms set-up and service, wine service, ordering, staffing, pricing, and budgeting.
  • Prepare written proposals/contracts and contact letters detailing deposit amounts, due dates, attrition clauses and other agreed upon criteria required to secure group business.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
