Job Description

Interstate Assembly Systems is looking for a Full Time CDL Driver for our Surprise Arizona location. As a CDL Truck Driver your responsibilities include hauling, handling and safely transport custom service, mechanic, lube, and other trucks for Local and regional distances.

Interstate Assembly Systems is a leading manufacturer of quality service vehicles, commercial power generation equipment, and leading distributor of high-performance diesel and gas engines for many applications and industries.

This position will be responsible for product deliveries, as well as some warehouse duties.

Job Duties:

  • Operates vehicles with a capacity of more than 3 tons to and from customer locations and job sites (Local and Regional distances with the possibility of overnight trips).
  • Responsible to maintain and carry all necessary documents to include CDL, HAZMAT, D.O.T., and proof of company vehicle insurance. Transportation Worker Identification Credential - as required.
  • Complete all necessary inspection reports for outgoing and returned equipment, completing logbook and trip sheets meeting all D.O.T. and company record keeping requirements.
  • Knowledge of Dealer/Manufacturer Licensing and Laws with regards to transporting all classes of vehicles, including trailers, and generators.
  • Accurately documents delivery, prepares receipts of orders by customers, and reports any discrepancies to the company. Obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.
  • Sets own schedule daily to support the needs of the Project Managers and Sales Team.
  • Communicates directly with the Project Managers and Sales Team to seek clarity of task.
  • Responsible to ensure all loads/vehicles are in legally compliant before leaving SWP.
  • Ensures proper loading, unloading, and securing of equipment/vehicles.
  • Assist with pictures of equipment/vehicles as directed by the project managers and sales team.
  • Receive incoming vehicle chassis by verifying paperwork and processing of all necessary documents per the project managers and sales team direction.
  • Demonstrate Customer Service Standards for pickup and delivery service.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper and safe equipment usage to the customer at point of delivery.
  • Accurately documents delivery, prepares receipts of orders by customers, and reports any discrepancies to the company. Obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.
  • Collects payment for goods delivered (as needed) and records transactions on proper paperwork.
  • Conduct weekly startup/function check of all vehicles for maintaining battery life. Maintain maintenance log on all chassis in yard.
  • Check in all new chassis that arrive in yard. Input information on Record 360.
  • Monitor and fill portable fuel tanks as needed.
  • Required to report accidents or violations immediately to your direct supervisor
  • Increases job knowledge and product knowledge on an ongoing basis.
  • Utilizing Forklifts/Lifting devices to load, unload, and move material safely.
  • SECONDARY DUTIES: Hours not driving or performing other vehicle related duties, the individual will backfill working in the warehouse to support production.

Desired Qualities/Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow and conduct instructions with minimal supervision.
  • A positive customer service attitude.
  • Knowledge of local major and minor roadways and the ability to effectively use maps and directions for efficient delivery routing.
  • Demonstrate an elevated level of safety awareness on the roadways
  • Exhibit professional defensive driving techniques to protect equipment and other drivers
  • Forklift Operation

Position Requirements:

  • Traditional work schedule to include occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds, frequently required to walk, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee occasionally may be required to perform forceful use of hands, wrist, and forearms. Activities will also involve sitting and using a computer, communicating verbally and in writing
