Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Buffalo, NY *
Be part of an exciting journey as we build our new facility in the Western New York Science & Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park in Alabama, NY! This role offers a unique hybrid opportunity, blending remote work flexibility with on-site presence during the facility's construction phase.

Salary Range: $80,000 - 100,000

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the sourcing of components used in the production of vacuum pumps that meet the requirements in terms of quality, price, and delivery performance.


* Exploring for new suppliers & sourcing opportunities locally and internationally
* Identification of supply chain optimization leading to the implementation of CC7 cost reduction projects
* Challenging and optimization of product specification in close cooperation with the engineering team to allow for the most cost-effective and high total quality solutions
* Responsible for the supplier selection process including price analysis and price negotiations
* Optimization of the supply chain process
* Provide support to the inventory management activities together with the planning and production team
* Ensure the procurement function's early involvement and participation on teams for new product development and cost savings
* Create and manage commercial terms of supply and implement supply agreements with key suppliers
* Create and manage commodity and supply strategy to deliver value to the PC by driving down product cost and maximizing quality. This may include value engineering, price and quotation analysis, supplier development & rationalization, make vs. buy decisions, and outsourcing low-value add operations.
* Lead and manage supplier and component transfers to support product transfer projects and report in project meetings
* Identify risks to supply and develop and implement plans or policies to mitigate these risks
* Perform other duties as assigned

Experience requirements
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing or procurement in a production environment
* Solid negotiation skills
* Results focused with the ability to report on KPIs
* Analyze and use critical thinking, looking into problems and identifying root causes with facts, numbers, and sound logic
* Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications
* Casting, machining, assembly, and metal fabrication processes are a plus

Knowledge
* Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, a second language is a plus
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Experienced with MRP systems

Educational requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain or equivalent experience
