Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Sr. Reliability Engineer will provide technical leadership as an equipment, maintenance, and system reliability specialist at the Hannibal Plant. The Reliability Engineer will be responsible for supporting and leading the journey to a proactive maintenance culture by maximizing system reliability at the lowest life-cycle cost.

The Reliability Engineer will (1) serve as a technical resource for manufacturing equipment and systems, (2) identify, develop, and execute strategic solutions to plant performance issues, (3) build capabilities of technical support personnel and plant line teams, and (4) know how to utilize data to support strategic initiatives and set reliability priorities for the plant. This role will report directly to the Maintenance and Reliability Manager while building a strong internal network within the maintenance, engineering, and operations communities of practice.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Human and Food Safety

  • Understand and provide expertise for human and food safety systems as well as loss prevention as they apply to risk management of plant equipment and processes

Technical Knowledge

  • Demonstrate understanding of equipment functionality (theory of operation) and key process transformations
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in optimizing PM job plans to include detailed work steps, specialized tools/skills, and critical tolerances
  • Develop standard work procedures and assess/coach technician capability to drive out top-losses
  • Demonstrate understanding of maintenance metrics in decision-making and raising awareness to others
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in component functionality, design, selection, and root cause analysis
  • Collect and analyze CMMS data to develop reports and forecasts with action plans for reducing component failures and improving MTBF and MTTR
  • Partner with other engineering disciplines (System/Controls/Project) to identify and prioritize system reliability and performance improvement opportunities
  • Demonstrate the use and application of advanced problem-solving methods (Why-Why Analysis, Fishbone, Focused Improvement, Weibull, etc.)
  • Seek opportunities to identify and evaluate new or emerging reliability trends, ideas, and technologies

Technical Leadership

  • Lead plant Reliability efforts through priority setting, work allocation, productivity, and accountability
  • Lead the plant's Lubrication Management System (LMS) to deliver a world class precision lubrication culture
  • Lead the plant's Breakdown Elimination (BE) process to systematically prioritize and drive out top equipment or component failures
  • Lead CMMS (Maximo) data analysis to determine maintenance work effectiveness and drive improvements in Asset Care Strategy (ACS)
  • Support capital and improvement projects by leading design for reliability and maintainability activities, championing the use and application of company equipment and component standards
  • Serve as an engineering and maintenance resource for equipment, processes, and systems across the plant
  • Facilitate effective collaboration across business teams, functional areas, and outside contractors
  • Provide expertise in manufacturing information systems (Maximo, MQIS, RMT, MA, SEEQ, CMT, Tableau, etc.)
  • Coach and provide technical support on planned maintenance pillars (planning & scheduling, defect handling, breakdown elimination, etc.) and foundational systems (process centerlines, CILs, basic conditions, etc.)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related degree with applicable experience or extensive relevant work experience.
  • Four (4) plus years of related work experience in technical roles in maintenance and/or reliability engineering, maintenance leadership, equipment or machinery design, or manufacturing
  • Demonstrates technical leadership, adaptability, analytical and problem-solving skills, decision-making, and troubleshooting abilities
  • Demonstrates ability to work with and influence diverse groups at various levels and across functions
  • Demonstrates advanced data analysis and statistical capabilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • CMRP/CRE/CRL/ICML or relevant industry certifications
  • Experience with selecting and deploying predictive maintenance or condition monitoring technologies
  • Experience with Maintenance Lead Role and Planned Maintenance (PM) pillars
  • Expertise using problem solving tools or methods and facilitating root cause analysis/investigations
  • Experience in teaching, training, mentoring, and building capabilities in others
  • Experience in building and leading successful teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective written and oral communication, and strong listening skills

  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range



The salary range for this position is $90100.00 - $135300.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
