Join us as our new Lead QC Technician
This position works under general supervision and is a conduit between the laboratory and management while maintaining a pulse on the lab functions & personnel. It aspires to the ideals originating from the department strategy while guiding teammates towards that vision. General responsibilities, in addition to the QC Lab Technician role, consist of system knowledge & management, supporting departmental metrics & goals, generating and maintaining team schedule, acting as department ambassadors to stakeholder groups, training & onboarding, and other duties assigned by management.
In this role you'll make an impact by:
- Knowing, adheringto, and enforcingall relevant safety, GLP, and GMP protocols.
- Conducting all required tests on in-process and finished product for quality control approval in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
- Utilizingaseptic techniques to ensure sterility of all media, equipment and work areas.
- Keepingdetailed and accurate records in appropriate company database (SAP, CHEOPS, LIMS) of all tests performed or evaluations/analyses conducted.
- Keepingdetailed and accurate records of training received.
- Communicating any testing nonconformance to management or process management group (PMG) as necessary.
- Keepinglab and work area clean and orderly.
- Workingwith vendors on equipment preventative maintenance, calibrations, service, and repairs.
- Managingdepartment purchasing for supplies and small equipment.
- Managingservice-level agreements.
- Coordinatinglab schedule and task rotation, including proficiency testing, lab requisitions, and other incoming requests.
- Serving as back-up to critical functions, included but not limited to media preparation & release responsibilities.
- Performinginspection of inbound raw materials.
- Performingauxiliary support tasks for laboratory functions, e.g., sample shipments.
- Responsibilityfor onboarding new employees & training of all laboratory staff, in conjunction with management.
- Supportingthe collection & evaluation of data for departmental metrics.
- Assistingin maintenance of lab documents and SOPs.
- Workingwith Supervisor to assess employee performance.
- Writing work orders and works with maintenance to schedule preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Managing, scheduling, and performingprocess confirmations and other continuous improvement initiatives.
To succeed you must hold:
- Ability to read and comprehend documents such as standard operating procedures and equipment manuals.
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from colleagues, other departments and occasionally auditors.
- Proficient in all major assays performed in laboratory.
- Ability to interpret testing results and follow SOP document for appropriate action.
- Ability to operate a variety of lab equipment and instruments and a variety of office equipment.
- Possesses a working knowledge of information databases, including but not limited to DocBox, C-SHOP, SAP, LIMS, Tabware, and CHEOPS.
- Possesses a working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices & Good Manufacturing Practices and compliance requirements.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel as well as database programs.
- Uses metric measurements (i.e., mL) and temperatures measurements in Centrigrade (C).
- Performs basic dilution series on product in accordance with specifications or recipes.
- CPR & first aid certified preferred.
- These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree in a scientific field or three years experience in a laboratory environment.
