Position Description

The primary focus is on identifying and capitalizing on global business opportunities for ACA to drive adjacent market growth via new market / technology identification. This role is very strategic, requires innovation, and is driven by our 80/20 principals to improve profitability and expand our value offering to new customers.

  • The difference between lead commercial and lead technical is the focus:
  • Commercial has greater responsibility/influence for identifying, developing and securing the business (as this is their expertise).
  • Technical has greater responsibility/influence for meeting the customers' design expectations, product performance, for relaying this detail back to our engineers and for working with the engineers to confirm customer requirements are 'built/designed' into our products.
Key Responsibilities
  • Market Research: Conducting global market research to identify potential markets, customer needs, and emerging trends. This involves gathering data, analyzing market conditions, and evaluating the competitive landscape.
  • Opportunity Identification: Identifying new business opportunities, potential partnerships, collaborations, or investment prospects that align with the global organization's objectives. This will involve networking, attending industry events, monitoring industry news, visiting research labs and universities, and staying updated on market developments.
  • Lead Generation: Searching for and identifying potential clients, customers, or strategic partners for the organization. This may include prospecting, attending trade shows, and leveraging online platforms to generate leads.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivating and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, such as clients, customers, partners, and industry influencers. This includes networking, attending conferences, and engaging in business meetings to establish rapport and explore potential collaborations.
  • Competitive Analysis: Assessing competitors' activities, products, and market strategies to identify areas of opportunity or potential threats. This involves gathering intelligence on competitor performance, pricing, marketing strategies, and product offerings.
  • Development of Opportunities: Collaborating with the rest of Venture Technologies, other Air Cooled Business Units, and PT/Modine entities to develop proposals, presentations, or business pitches to secure new clients, partnerships, or investment opportunities. This may involve creating business cases, conducting financial analysis, and developing strategic plans.
  • Communication skills (verbal, written and presentations), including ability to translate complex ideas into understandable insights and provide commercially-sound business justification to support executive decision-making
  • Strategic Planning: Contributing to the development of the organization's overall business strategy based on market insights, industry trends, and potential opportunities. This can include providing recommendations, conducting feasibility studies, and identifying areas for growth or diversification.
Required Education & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of proven and progressive experience in similar industries and across the following areas: product management / development, market development, strategic planning, and/or new market development
  • Business, financial, technical, commercial, strategy and negotiation skills
  • Collaborative work style in an agile work environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Intercultural competences and ability for global networking
  • Excellent leadership, assertiveness and communication skills
