Job Description

What You'll Do

The Designer contributes to the Architexture group creatively and technically to develop surface textures. The Designer embodies innovation, staying up to date on industry trends and initiatives. They will enhance current and develop new designs to influence and consult with customer clientele for texture development, process selection, moldability and tool feasibility for the engraving processes. The Designer collaborates with the global Architexture studio team to strengthen the department.

  • Communicates with designers and engineers both artistically and technically for texture development, molding, machining
  • Collaborates with Studio manager and other department managers to organize job priority, delivery and record keeping
  • Actively works with the global Mold-Tech Architexture Studio counterparts on various projects and processes.
  • Supports designers and technicians in the design, development, and programming processes. (Texture Design, RTP, Model-Tech, Vycon, DTX, Laser, Acid)
  • Plan, attend and deliver meetings with customers determining design requirements to bring vision to life, ultimately resulting in presenting work for approval.
  • Understands timing of incoming and ongoing projects, supporting management and production to meet deadlines
  • Research new industry trends, standards, and enhancements in technology and texture design or related to support creativity and innovation
  • Works with Manager and Architexture consultancy to attend shows, conventions, including general networking to develop and maintain customer clientele
  • Clarifies and solves technical questions related to design, such as translation of design to production as well as production implementation. Delegates questions if unable to respond effectively.
  • Brainstorm ideas, creating new textures using sketches, CAD, and digital software that visually depicts conceptual designs as well as finished designs for manufacturing or production
  • Supports technicians in translation of RTP to production in both Laser Etching and Acid etch etc.
  • 3D visualization and creation from basic to complex design both in surface models and surface textures
  • Proving of 3D visual texture rendering and texture mapping on to parts or tools for a visual representation of production to clients or for translating into render tech or model tech synthesis
  • Develops and interpret artwork for RTP, DTX, Vycon, Laser technologies and production process

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Manufacturing Design, or related field
  • 2-4 years' experience in manufacturing design preferred, or in lieu of degree
  • 1-3 years' experience with SolidWorks, Blender, Rhino 3D
  • Travel 10-15%

  • Proficient and demonstrated presentation skills
  • Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a technical aptitude allowing ability to understand the various technologies offered by SEMT
