Job Summary:

This role works effectively with Human Resources subject matter experts to support data-driven decisions by developing analytics that provide accurate, insightful and actionable data. Promotes improvement initiatives and strategic priorities by creating data assets and products aligned with business plans and organizational goals. Serve as subject matter expert for HR data, HR related analytical tools and enterprise analytics related to Human Resources. Troubleshoots Human Resources related data system issues as they arise. Completes other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

1. Analytics Development: Employs descriptive analytics such as data summarization, trending and statistical process control to support decision making and improvement initiatives. Utilizes standard diagnostic analysis process including data discovery, defining process and outcome metrics, and defining data relationships. Translates customer requirements to technical requirements using standard template and facilitates solutioning within limited scope and data sources. Maintains familiarity with multiple applicable analytical tools and techniques. Identifies trends and patters in HR data, through data mining. Under the direction of leadership, conducts descriptive data analytics, establishes benchmarking, contributes to Workforce Planning, Predictive Analytics and Scenario Planning data gathering activities. Possess a solid understanding of the HR systems, table structures and HR processes to maximize analytics capabilities.

2. Data Modeling: Applies concepts of conceptual/logical/physical data models, schemas, normalization, keys, indexes and data types. Utilizes table joins appropriately and effectively interprets entity relationship diagrams. Ensures and improves data integrity through data quality checking, profiling, validation, restructuring, cleaning, and enriching. Conceptualizes and designs data models for single-source systems.

3. Programming: Utilizes basic structured query language (SQL) skills for application development, including data acquisition, filtering, sorting, joins, aggregation and grouping. Performs thorough code documentation and validation.

4. Visualizations: Creates effective visualizations using appropriate tools and completes basic UI design with limited scope and requirements.

5. Process Improvement: Participates in the development and implementation of departmental processes. Identifies opportunities for improvement and proposes interventions to address.

6. Project Management: Effectively prioritizes multiple work streams and manages deliverables to timeline. Adapts quickly as needs change. Estimates hours, work breakdown structures and timelines for own work.

7. Critical Thinking: Applies standard process for validation and testing of work product for self and peers. Undertakes problem solving efforts related to own work.

8. Communication: Effectively presents and communicates analytic findings in written and verbal form to ensure reporting requirements are met and progress is understood. Provides training support to end-users and participates effectively in technical meetings to problem-solve. Assists in the development of training materials for end users and plans/executes product demonstrations.

9. Report Generation: Examines and evaluates the purpose and content of business reports to develop new, or improve existing, format, use and control. Reviews reports to determine basic characteristics.

10. Customer Support: Maintains and nurtures positive relationships with clients. Takes a proactive approach to meeting client needs. Takes the lead and initiative in understanding client needs and reconciles those needs with reporting system capabilities. Interfaces with clients to define report deliverables, issues, questions, needs and timing in an effective and professional manner.

11. Project Support: Participates in project-oriented efforts for customers. Communicates project status and resolves or escalates issues as appropriate. Completes assigned tasks within projects in an effective and timely manner.

12. Team Player: Develop and maintain positive relationships with team members. Fosters a collaborative team environment.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

A minimum of 1 year of directly related experience with projects that include analysis, data modeling principles, basic to intermediate SQL programming, dashboard/report design with visualizations, and development of business/customer and technical specifications.

Basic to Intermediate experience with Business Intelligence tool(s).

Prefer experience in report creation (SQL or comparable) and reporting design (Crystal Reports or comparable). Experience in a customer facing role is required.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Care Administration, Engineering or related field, or appropriate experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, is required.

Demonstrated knowledge of statistical and/or data management principles at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

* Working knowledge of Human Resources operations, data sets, measurement methods, terminology and business trends.

* Basic structured query language (SQL) skills including data acquisition, filtering/sorting, simple joins, aggregation, and grouping.

* Working knowledge of process improvement methodologies and techniques.

* Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.

* Basic knowledge of Data Mart and Data Warehouse structure.

* Detail oriented with the ability to synthesize and incorporate data/information from multiple sources.

* Demonstrates excellent follow-up skills and takes initiative as well as a proactive problem-solving approach.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to listen and convey messages in a clear and concise manner using the appropriate communication medium.

* Team oriented with good interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with peers and customers.
