FUNCTION: As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the occupational therapist is responsible for providing occupational therapy support to youth and young adult with high-level needs who are dually diagnosed with mental health and developmental disabilities toward helping them to participate in everyday activities that are congruent with their life goals and treatment plan.


PRIMARY DUTIES:

Legend: E = Essential / NE = Non-Essential / N/A = Not Applicable

1. Assist enrolled youth in identifying and acquiring appropriate resources toward meeting their daily living activities and individual goals toward being independent and able to address their ongoing mental health and disability needs. E

2. Work with CSC families to assist them in understanding how they can support the youth in reaching their identified goals toward managing complex needs and helping the youth and family implement needed accommodations (i.e., psychoeducation, medication management, etc.) E

3. Collaborate with the CSC team toward addressing the individual needs of the enrolled youth, including taking part in Child and Family Team meetings, CSC team meetings, and consultations. E

4. Work to identify informal and nature support in the community that can be used toward meeting long-term goals for CSC clients and work with CSC clients to help them to explore such opportunities. E

5. Attend meetings and professional development activities, as required. E

6. Establish and maintain good communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all parents, co-workers, etc. E

7. Follow all duties of a mandated reporter. E

8. Perform other related duties, as assigned. NE

9. Be a team player. E

Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is generally performed in field and office environments, includes travel to client homes for appointments and /or court hearings. Local travel required; some occasional state-wide travel may be needed.


REPORTS TO: Program Administrator for Youth Services


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.

2. Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of WI.

3. One (1) year experience working with people with complex mental health needs.

4. Two (2) years of continued experience serving youth and young adults with mental health and developmental disabilities (Preferred)

5. Certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) (Preferred)

6. Emphasis on Health & Wellness and/or Mental Health (Highly desirable)

7. Bilingual (Spanish and English), spoken and written. (Desirable)

8. Neat orderly person with great organizational skills.

9. Must be a people person with a great disposition and outlook on life, who enjoys working with others, is upbeat and pleasant to work with and is a good listener.

10. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite.

11. Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as needed.

12. Excellent communication and documentation skills, written and verbal

13. Must pass all background checks.

14. Transportation, valid Wisconsin Driver's license, state minimum auto insurance and must meet La Causa, Inc. driving standards.
