Come join our team to drive strategic department and functional vision, operating models, budget and planning activities, and outcomes for our Client Experience department. You will serve as a trusted, strategic advisor to lead functional leaders within the department. In this leadership position, you will be regarded as a technical expert in Marketing Engineering working alongside Product, Technology and the Business at Northwestern Mutual!

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates technical expertise and leadership.

  • Establishes, aggregates, and shares team standards and best practices across department.

  • Owns the strategy and development of high impact solutions in the enterprise.

  • Leads talent strategy and development for the division.

  • Mentors, guides and coaches engineers/leaders within their division for technical and leadership growth.

  • Prioritizes talent and manage budgets for efficient results.

  • Establishes business shared goals and lead the division to meet goals.

  • Delivers operational excellence through the development of organizational strategies, engineering processes, and product quality standards.

  • Collaborates with the business to understand business needs, strategy, customer needs and market trends.

  • Acts as ambassador and representative for Northwestern Mutual's technology organization in community and technology events.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

  • 9-14 years professional experience required.

  • 3-7+ years of experience leading engineering teams including:

  • Leading through multiple engineering teams and their respective leads.

  • Growing engineering skills in others.

  • Developing future engineering leaders.

  • Providing direct feedback and performance reviews.

  • Creating tech strategy and growing business relationships.

  • Deep technical knowledge and broad understanding of the business.

  • Ability to optimally communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences in varying forms and all levels of detail.

  • Solid understanding of design patterns and architecture.

  • Ability to influence teams, technology or business leaders on impactful issues and decisions.

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$164,010.00

Pay Range - End:

$304,590.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
