Director of Welding Operations - Grafton, WI

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise all welding, and ancillary operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and industry standards, while also spearheading the adoption of advanced weld technologies to drive operational excellence and innovation.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Operations to evaluate, adopt, and integrate advanced weld technologies, leveraging innovation to enhance efficiency, precision, and quality in welding operations.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for welding operations, leveraging financial acumen to optimize resource allocation, control costs, and drive tangible ROI through process improvements, technology investments, and operational efficiencies.
  • Review work orders and allocate resources effectively to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products, while also identifying opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, and cost savings through the adoption of advanced weld technologies.
  • Engage with customers to understand their evolving needs and expectations, leveraging advanced weld technologies and process innovations to deliver customized solutions that drive customer satisfaction and foster long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing department to optimize the procurement of welding supplies and equipment, negotiating favorable contracts and leveraging bulk purchasing opportunities to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety in welding operations, leveraging data-driven insights, performance metrics, and advanced analytics to identify areas for optimization and innovation.
  • Provide leadership, training, and development opportunities for welding operations staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning, while also ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting mechanisms to track key performance indicators, monitor operational expenses, and assess the ROI of technology investments and process improvements in welding operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align welding operations with broader organizational goals and objectives, leveraging advanced weld technologies and financial insights to drive value creation and competitive advantage.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Technical expertise and welding certification, coupled with a demonstrated track record of success in advancing weld technologies and driving operational excellence.
  • 5-7 years experience in managing welding operations, preferably in a manufacturing or contract metal manufacturing environment, with a focus on process optimization, cost control, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and ROI analysis, with a proven ability to optimize resource allocation and drive tangible business results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to drive alignment and achieve shared goals.
  • Proficiency in project management, including the ability to develop and execute strategic plans, track key performance indicators, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with advanced weld technologies such as robotic welding, laser welding, and automated inspection systems, with a passion for innovation and a commitment to staying abreast of emerging trends and technologies.
