Operators and leads report to the Production Supervisor

Job dimensions
  • Works with Planner/Scheduler to produce production plan that meets customer requirements and allocates plant resources to meet the production plan
  • Direct supervision of production personnel including job assignments, training, discipline, attendance.
  • Ensures process record accuracy before submittal for entry into SAP.
  • Actively promotes plant safety improvement and programs including 4S, SBO, Pure Safety, Safety Zone, 5S and operator safety checklists.
  • Support Continuous Improvement through shop floor use of problem solving tools and Kaizen participation.
  • Manage purchasing, as authorized, to meet budget.
  • Leads on-floor implementation of site initiatives.

Activities
  • Practice and enforce safe work habits in accordance with OSHA and EPA guidelines, and Bostik specific EHS expectations.
  • Ensure all materials for production are available to the production line. If not make arrangements to provide them.
  • Adjust distribution of workforce as needed to meet production demand, or fill in for absence.
  • Make regular rounds of production floor to identify and correct issues and potential safety, quality and production issues proactively.
  • Communicate to maintenance mechanical issues through the work order system, or other plant specific method, and work with maintenance supervisor to schedule repairs.
  • Lead manufacturing team in daily continuous improvement of safety, quality and productivity.
  • Ensure production floor KPI's are tracked daily and corrective actions are identified and implemented.
  • Use team-oriented problem solving to identify and eliminate root causes of safety, quality and production concerns using A3, B3 and 5-WHY problem solving tools.
  • Coach, train, develop, evaluate and recommend wage adjustments for production team members
  • Actively participate in the hiring process of plant personnel.
  • Maintain full compliance and support for overall company policies, procedures and practices.
  • Complete and ensure production team adheres to site-wide 5S Program.
  • Audit production documents (MO, Batch Card) to ensure documents are complete and accurate.
Context and environment
  • The job is 70% on the shop floor working directly with production employees, 30% administrative duties

Accountabilities

  • Production team adherence to Bostik safety policy and procedures
  • Ensure production team follows process work instructions to ensure quality of production
  • Completion of the production plan daily

Qualifications / experience required

  • 3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment in supervision or leadership role
  • Associates degree in Business, Industrial Operations Management, Engineering, related technical discipline or significant progress towards degree with estimated completion date. Candidates with significant work experience which is equivalent to these degree requirements may also be considered.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of manufacturing (production, logistics, maintenance)
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards
  • Material planning experience
  • QMS or related education in Lean, 6 Sigma and Theory of Constraints preferred
  • Continuous Improvement and 5S experience preferred.
  • OSHA training preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Advanced skill level in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Proven record in resolving conflict.
