General Summary:
Serves as the primary clinical liaison between the department staff, the medical staff, and community-based clinical and professional groups. The Clinical Coordinator assists in the facilitation of inservices and educational meetings. The Clinical Coordinator serves as the clinical resource for staff by providing oversight for staff competence, protocols and adherence to best practices.
Essential Job Functions:
Serves as a clinical resource or clinical expert and role model. Assists staff in resolving clinical problems. Stays current on emerging patient care technologies, treatments, protocols and best practices.
Identifies best clinical resources for effective mentoring of staff and serves as a mentor for staff and new employees.
The Coordinator maintains a 50% case load, facilitating, evaluating and treating children and families throughout their care. Performs all patient care activity and job functions required of Audiology Clinician II/III.
Collaborates with Rehab Education Coordinator to design and complete new staff orientation and assigns other mentors as needed.
Provides written and verbal feedback regarding clinical skills for annual staff performance appraisals of clinicians. Participates in performance review meeting when requested.
Collaborates with Rehab Education Coordinator and Manager of Audiology to coordinate and ensure completion of orientation and competencies for all new and current clinicians.
Identifies clinical education opportunities for staff including internal in-services, outside speakers, and outreach activities.
Provides feedback for clinicians on clinical and/or educational materials (i.e. power point presentations, abstracts, handouts, competencies).
Participates in the interviewing and selection process for all new clinical candidates.
Identifies opportunities for clinical program development. Identifies potential relationships with outside referral sources. Facilitates quality initiatives within the department and division.
Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
Works with leadership with strategic planning in providing a vision for department, division, institution and community.
Assists and supports management and staff in adapting to a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
Other job functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Successful graduation from an accredited Audiology program.
Current License or proof of eligibility and submission for license in the State of Illinois.
Minimum of six years of pediatric experience in a medical setting similar to Lurie Children's.
Demonstrated history of leading clinical teams.
Must be a current Clinician II.
Certification in CPR from the American Heart Association by having completed the BLS AED Heartsaver Course
