The Quality Manager I reports to the Plant Manager and is an integral part of the team at our Buena Vista plant. The Quality Manager I will ensure that quality system requirements are established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with internal and customer quality requirements. This role will report on the performance of the quality system to plant management for review, lead continuous improvement efforts as they relate to internal and external quality needs and supervise a Quality team.
- Ensure the implementation and administration of the Modine Quality System at the plant, which includes ensuring adherence to all agency and company test requirements.
- Initiate and participate in quality planning for the products and processes of the plant.
- Supervise and direct the activities of the quality department staff.
- Plan, develop, and provide training to improve technical competency of quality personnel as needed.
- Actively participate in and lead continuous improvement efforts utilizing lean, CI, and quality tools.
- Establish, monitor, analyze, and report on the major quality indicators of the plant. Develop improvement targets and plans to address/correct deficiencies.
- Audit the plant quality systems, processes, and products. Initiate corrective action when required.
- Facilitate plant-wide corrective and preventive action and problem resolution of customer complaints, field failures, and product returns to insure prompt and effective responses.
- Exercise authority to prevent shipment of non-conforming products.
- Manage, train, develop, and motivate the Quality Department employees in order to achieve the overall quality goals and tasks such as:
- Meet test specs and work requirements
- Participate and facilitate product and/or process improvement teams
- Train employees in the use of quality systems and tools
- Audit manufacturing processes
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or one of the physical sciences preferred
- 3-5 years experience in quality supervision, quality engineering, manufacturing, Corporate administration, or engineering
- Practical experience in quality system implementation and auditing
- Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001 and other world wide quality management systems
- Experience in establishing and implementing strategic plans for quality policies and procedures
- Strong project management and leadership skills
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification preferred
