Responsibilities:

  • Leads the Test and Repair department daily activities which include SQDC (safety, quality, delivery, and capacity) board, processes, and capabilities at Enercon's Germantown world headquarters.
  • Performs testing of units and equipment within the Test & Repair department to support output goals as needed.
  • Coordinates with other supervisors and leads, Production Planning and Scheduling, Sales, and Engineering to accomplish factory acceptance testing and repair operations to the committed production schedule. Coordinates the activities of others outside their department when obstacles arise to ensure customer commitment dates are met.
  • Maintains awareness of current and upcoming job scheduling, material availability, technical challenges, as it impacts customer order status. Works with staff, supervisors, and others as needed to ship orders on time, eliminate past due, and maintain industry benchmark lead times.
  • Ensures Test and Repair staff, Plant Maintenance staff, or contractors complete preventative maintenance, repairs, and any necessary calibrations. Maximize test and repair equipment for uptime, data collection and reporting accuracy, and overall product throughput. Coordinates capability and capacity upgrades with the Test Engineer and Manufacturing Manager.
  • Identifies, supports, or leads Continuous Improvement projects within the Test and Repair department and participates in CI projects as needed in other departments to optimize SQDC.
  • Works closely with Sustaining Engineering and Manufacturing staff to optimize the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) methods and routings to maintain or improve visibility of jobs status for customer orders.
  • Communicates with Quality, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to promptly resolve non-conforming material issues and any impact to the production schedule as needed.
  • Builds a strong working relationship with their team and coworkers based on clear communication, trust, mutual accountability, and mutual respect.
  • Ensures team members develop, refine, and follow established processes through proper training, creation of standard work, and supervision. Continuously improves the depth and breadth of their own capabilities and their team's through cross-training across product lines.
  • Consults with the Manufacturing Manager on employee selection, reviewing employee performance, administering company policies, and recommending compensation adjustments.
  • Represents themselves professionally in all situations using effective listening, communication, and delegation.
  • Supports Manufacturing Managers with back-up supervision of plant personnel as needed for vacation or other periods. Complies with all housekeeping, safety, and quality rules and any other relevant regulations.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree and two years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience supervising employees in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams using clear and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Outgoing, collaborative, and highly motivated to do the right thing for their fellow employees and our customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor their teams and develop themselves as a leader.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a Supervisor, Test or Manufacturing Engineer supervising final assembly, operating electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes and digital multimeters, or repair of high voltage and/or highly engineered products.
  • Prior experience with the application of 5S, standard work, and lean daily management practices
  • Ability to leverage experience and adapt approach to make meaningful improvements based on the situation or environments.
