PATH's Market Dynamics program is currently recruiting for a Summer Associate who is seeking to grow their career while making a difference in people's lives. Our work is focused on identifying failures in global health markets and overcoming them through evidence-based interventions to increase equitable access to health products and services.

This is a temporary position due to begin June 3, 2024 and end August 16, 2024.

The Summer Associate SOURCE Project will contribute to two main scopes of work under the Market Dynamics Strengthening Oxygen Utilization and Respiratory Care Ecosystems (SOURCE) Project:

  • Use the PATH oxygen needs tracker to forecast hypoxemia case incidence and respiratory care equipment quantity needs

  • Review and updates to the PATH Oxygen Delivery Toolkit

Responsibilities:

  • Data modeling, simulation, and forecasting:

    • Utilizing limited and sparse data to simulate patient arrivals in the health system and estimate the maximum number of beds needed to serve patients

    • Utilizing limited and sparse data to forecast the impact of investments in oxygen infrastructure on oxygen need and oxygen-related mortality

  • Communication of analysis outputs:

    • Distill and synthesize complex data and analyses and accessible presentation format

  • Synthesize key information, guidance, and resources provided in toolkit guides and work with the team to develop a concise and effective resource aimed at target audiences

  • Develop high-level summaries of toolkit documents

  • Conduct general reviews of the toolkit; work with the team to incorporate key updates based on any new global/country guidelines and resources

  • Support the team in the development of 1-3 country use cases that demonstrate the utility of the toolkit

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Graduate degree (completed or in-progress) in Business Administration, Economics, Public Policy, Public Health, or equivalent plus 2+ years' relevant experience

  • Technical knowledge of: (a) market analysis to inform decision-making, and/or (b) health systems analysis, preferably within the context of Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs)

  • Consulting experience is a plus

  • Passionate about addressing health issues in low-resource settings with a demonstrated commitment to equity

  • Ability to derive strategic insights for country and global stakeholders from data analysis and desk research

  • Experience in writing reports and communications/advocacy materials

  • Ability to synthesize complex technical topics into concise and clear messaging aimed at diverse audiences

  • Proven effectiveness working in a team-based environment, but capable also of working independently and taking initiative

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and thrive in fast-paced and high-pressure situations

  • Comfortable with working openly and transparently, sharing work-in-progress, failures, successes, and lessons-learned

  • Humble, self-driven, fast learner that functions well in a highly collaborative environment as part of a cross-disciplinary, cross-cultural team

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Proficiency in MS SQL, ProModel, R, Python or other data modeling software

  • Experience in Monte Carlo methods, discrete event simulation and/or other simulation modeling

  • Fluent English language skills

  • Basic French skills a plus

The hourly range for this temporary role in the U.S. is $20.00- $24.00. The final salary is based on a variety of objective factors. This is a non-benefitted position.
