Systems, LLC, in Germantown, WI, is a leader in the design and manufacturer of loading dock equipment. We have a rare opportunity for a self-motivated individual with strong electrical engineering knowledge to be primarily involved in the development and improvement of product and product designs. Work may include creation of new products and modifications of existing products, including product line extensions.

This is a role within Systems' Engineering group. A successful incumbent is expected to (i) Create and revise advanced models and assemblies using 3D CAD software; update production drawings in response to engineering design changes and other continuous improvement initiatives including new product development, and (ii) Work independently and manage medium to high complexity projects; work under guidance of Sr Engineers or Managers for uniquely complex projects; work independently and collaboratively to implement design and process improvement projects while regularly tracking and reporting progress. Requires 3+ years of related experience and a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Create and revise advanced models and assemblies using 3D CAD software; update production drawings in response to engineering design changes and other continuous improvement initiatives including new product development
  • Work independently and manage medium to high complexity projects; work under guidance of Sr Engineers or Managers for uniquely complex projects; work independently and collaboratively to implement design and process improvement projects while regularly tracking and reporting progress
  • Develop an advanced understanding of company products, including appropriate uses, general designs, manufacturing processes, and acceptable design modifications
  • Analyze, utilize and update ERP configuration data within the company's enterprise resource program (ERP) to process complex special customer orders/ETOs and release work orders and special drawings to manufacturing and analyze data for potential new projects
  • Develop an advanced understanding of engineering work flows to support production and other departments
  • Create complex engineering change notices (ECNs), distribute for approval, and process as required
  • Coordinate with production to identify process and product improvements; provide recommendations for improvements to management and implement as required
  • Conceptualize, develop prototypes, test, and validate designs for complex products; select and test materials and components that will be suitable for products
  • Apply engineering principles and concepts to the design process for various products
  • Support technical service group in the troubleshooting and root cause analysis around product issues
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.
  • Protect Chamberlain Group's and Systems' reputation by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Working knowledge of CAD, 2D and 3D
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of project management principles
  • Able to travel up to 10% of the time domestically (job site travel, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a metal fabrication environment
  • Experience in design of mechanical components and assemblies
  • Experience or familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, control systems, structural steel, or welded fabrications
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D modeling software
  • General knowledge of ERP/MRP software is beneficial
