Summary:

Leads a team of CPAs responsible for delivering complex tax planning and tax minimization strategies to NM's high net worth clients; directs all phases of team's operations; contributes to development and drives execution of tax planning strategy.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drives execution of tax planning strategy to differentiate the company and its advisors in high net worth market
  • Leads development and delivery of tax planning solutions to meet evolving needs of top advisors and high net worth clients
  • Leverages tax planning expertise to position NM as thought leader to advisors, clients and external centers of influence
  • Creates and implements a structure for the team as it grows and evolves
  • Builds and manages relationships with top advisors to maximize effectiveness of team
  • Consults with advisors and clients on complex high-profile situations
  • Identifies opportunities and leads initiatives across the company that advance NM's tax planning capabilities
  • People management responsibilities supporting our people vision and employee experience, including developing and retaining a team, creating an inclusive environment, and driving high performance.

Qualifications:

  • CPA Required. Other advanced degrees or designation preferred; CFP, MBA, JD
  • Series 6 or 7 (or within 9 months of hire date)
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience including at least 4 of private client experience or in financial services industry
  • Broad understanding of estate and business planning strategies, financial planning, investment and insurance products
  • Demonstrated strength consulting with high net worth clients ($20M+) and financial advisors
  • Client centric written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience developing and executing strategy in dynamic environment
  • Ability to influence, advocate and implement change with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent manager skills to grow and develop CPAs, effectively use resources or deep technical expertise

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$146,440.00

Pay Range - End:

$271,960.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an in dividual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
