Silicon Valley Bank is focused on building deep and authentic relationships with founders, investors, and ecosystem partners to improve their probability of success. This specific role would help entrepreneurs of early and mid-stage startups with a mix of banking services, advice and valuable introductions.

The Associate on the Relationship Banking team is part of the client facing team representing SVB out in market, specifically focused on Dallas. Responsible for assisting with the management of an assigned client portfolio, supporting cross-sell opportunities, as well as business development. Cross sell opportunities include positioning bank products such as credit card, treasury management, payment solutions, foreign exchange, and collaboration across other SVB teams with the goal of orchestrating a superior client experience and building deep and immersive client relationships.


Responsibilities

  • Leads client onboarding journey, collaborating with Managing Director and Product Advisor to open new accounts
  • Analyze and manage data sources/CRM to identify top clients and prospects;
  • Determine potential cross-sell opportunities and participate in the sales process;
  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of SVB's products and anticipate clients' needs for these products;
  • Help support client engagement and outreach through attending events in market, following relevant industry publications, etc.
  • Increase client satisfaction/experience across portfolio through proactive outreach and swift resolution of client requests/needs;
  • Develop strong relationships with key clients and ecosystem stakeholders, such as investors and accelerator/incubator groups;
  • Maintains relationships with 3rd party providers, who may add value to portfolio clients by augmenting SVB products and services or offering adjacent solutions;
  • Assist Managing Director with new business development opportunities, events, and strategic initiatives.
  • Work cross functionally to provide a superior client experience and to increase product/service uptake by SVB clients and prospects;
  • Attend relevant industry events in technology ecosystem in and around the Dallas area with flexibility to travel occasionally.

The Associate should approach each client engagement, electronic or live, as an opportunity to advise clients and to improve their business standing through that advice. The Associate will engage and build relationships with key client stakeholders to remain well-informed of industry developments and able to respond to changing circumstances while appropriately balancing client and SVB needs.


Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 2+ years of experience in sales, startups or financial services. Alternatively, High School or GED with 6+ years of experience with 3+ years in sales, startups or financial services in progressively higher roles.

  • Someone who knows their way around a set of financial statements, as a means to understand and anticipate a company's capital needs
  • Ability to juggle numerous competing priorities, prioritizing based on impact and urgency
  • Ability to demonstrate resourcefulness and ingenuity to leverage resources to solve problems
  • Skilled communicator who can effectively convey nuanced, and, sometimes difficult, messages.
  • Understanding of various technology verticals, business models, and the components of the innovation economy/start-up landscape
