Department:FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT Organizational Unit:Fire Prevention (50000069)

Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time

Open Until Filled.

$ 18.37 hourly. Additional incentives may be available, in accordance with the most current IAFF Rank & File Bargaining Agreement. Central Area/Rockledge/Timothy J. Mills Fire Rescue Center/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Performs skilled protective service work promoting fire safety and conducting fire hazard inspections for a designated area of the County.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, as required by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training, PLUS must possess a current valid State of Florida Firesafety Inspector I certification, issued by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training, and maintain said certification during the term of employment. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and must maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, a valid State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and maintain said certification in an active status during the term of employment. Must possess a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from an approved agency and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must not have been found guilty or plead guilty or nolo contendere to a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude within the last five (5) years. Must be of good moral character, as determined by a local Clerk of Court, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) criminal background investigation. Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check administered by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office (BCSO). Must have fingerprints on file with Brevard County. Must successfully pass a physical examination and a vision test, as determined by a licensed medical practitioner, currently under contract with Brevard County. Must be able to work irregular schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
