JOB OVERVIEW

The Accounting Manager will assist in the completion of all accounting functions in a timely and accurate manner, to include but not limited to: Month-end close, Forecast/ Budget, assist Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payable staff, assist in preparation of Income Journal, Sales and Use Tax reconciliations. In addition, prepares Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

* Associate or Bachelor degree required.
* 2-4 years hotel accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Relevant military experience in a comparable capacity.

COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Must be proficient in word processing and spreadsheets in Excel.
  • Must be able to type 30 words per minute and have 10 key experience.
  • Basic knowledge of web based Birchstreet procurement system preferred.
  • Some Micros experience preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

  • Ability to follow all appropriate policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve all standards of operation.

  • Knowledge of accounting operations to include all aspects such as general ledger, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, income audit, general cashier, purchasing and Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
JOB DUTIES
  • Reconciles General Ledger Accounts and bank statements.
  • Primary point of contact for assisting in training and provide guidance to accounting staff in addition to the Director of Finance.
  • Oversees daily accounting operations and make sure the compliant with standard operational process.
  • Prepares summary cash count report on a monthly basis for Director of Finance review.
  • Assists all positions within the accounting office as needed, including covering for vacations, illness and temporary vacancies.
  • Monitors the issuance and compliance of purchase orders.
  • Attends credit and other meetings as needed and instructed by Director of Finance.
  • Maintains installation of new programs and/or updates.
  • Responds to guest questions when supervisor is asked for; follows through within 24 hours.
  • Assists in preparation of tax returns.
  • Assists in preparing forecasts and budgets.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements, journal entries and accruals.
  • Insures all taxes, insurance and maintenance contracts are paid timely and accurately.
  • Review the terms of all contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with Company standards.
  • Assist Director of Finance and support all Night Audit personnel, functions and reports.
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality regarding all corporate and internal accounting, payroll and employee information.
  • Assist other departments with their needs.
  • Coordinate new procedures or programs with departments involved.
  • Responsible for special projects or any other duties as assigned.
