Job Summary
Under the direction of the Mold Maintenance Supervisor, the Mold Maintenance Technician - Youth Apprentice will be responsible for assisting with mold conversions, cleaning molds, doing heater checks, and performing preventative maintenance on the molds as well as utilizing our computer systems. you will be responsible for ensuring our molds are run-ready and are working at optimal efficiency.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for cleaning all injection molding tools at the end of each production run.
  • Completely field strip mold according to PM schedule.
  • Make repairs or replace components as needed notifying management of repairs or replacements beyond in-house capability.
  • All work is to be documented in tooling files and computer databases.
  • Test and repair problems related to heaters, manifolds, and torpedoes.

Other Functions

  • Maintain work area and clean shop and equipment on a regular basis.
  • Keep the Mold Maintenance Supervisor posted on any supplies/tools needed.
  • Build shipping crates for molds being repaired by outside vendors.
  • Keep the mold vault organized.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Keep the ultrasonic tanks clean.
  • Required Personal Protective Equipment * safety shoes are to be worn at all times during your scheduled work hours. * Department manager/supervisor will cover additional PPE as required on department-specific work instructions.
  • All employees entering the manufacturing area and other identified locations must wear the designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Wearing your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a condition of employment.

What You'll Bring

  • Actively pursuing a High School Diploma - preferably a Junior or Senior in good academic standing.
  • Above average mechanical aptitude
  • Willingness to learn how to use precision measuring equipment and tool room equipment (mills, lathes, drill press, surface grinders, saws to fabricate parts,)
  • Aptitude for very close tolerance precision work.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for a minimum of 8 hours.
