Job Summary:

The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for assisting the Nurse Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of the CCS in Brighton in a manner that promotes clients' safety, overall health, their effective resolution of crises, and their reintegration into community based services. With the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager provides leadership in the development, implementation, operation, and ongoing quality improvement for all contracted CCS services. This is an exempt position.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Provides regular direction and supervision for the staff at the CCS including interviewing and hiring staff as needed.
  • Assists in the oversight of the clinical, behavioral, and medical treatment and course of stay for CCS clients.
  • Assists in the completion of accurate programmatic documentation such as emergency reports, medication ordering and tracking, incident reports, and other assigned documentation.
  • Assist in the management of financial and budgetary procedures including petty cash and payroll.
  • With the Nurse Manager, reviews trends of the program by developing tracking systems for utilization, completion of treatment goals, client satisfaction, number and type of incidents, and outcome measures in order to meet program goals.
  • Assists in ensuring that safety protocols are routinely reviewed and followed consistently by staff (such as emergency systems; identification and remedy of facility safety hazards; security systems; lock up of sharps and any potential toxins; hazardous waste management; checks protocols, checking vitals protocols, etc). On call responsibilities for the unit on a rotating basis.

Job Requirements:

  • Massachusetts Licensed Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse required.
  • A minimum of two years nursing experience in the delivery of behavioral health services to adults and/or children and adolescents required.
  • 2 years of supervisory and managerial experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a pressured situation and maintain clarity, focus, judgment, and compassion.
  • Ability to assess crisis emergency situations and address appropriate clinical treatment for clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to de-escalate crises in a manner that ensures safety for all involved and provides for the best care and welfare of the person in crisis.
