Worthington Enterprises is seeking an experienced Supplier Development Engineer to join our growth-oriented company with established consumer product brands, which include:

  • Coleman outdoor fuel
  • Bernzomatic and Mag Tools Torches and Fuel
  • General Tools precision tools
  • Garden Weasel lawn and garden tools and accessories
  • Level5 drywall and masonry tools
  • Halo grills, griddles and pizza ovens

The Supplier Development Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in driving continuous improvement and fostering strong partnerships with our suppliers. In this role, you will be responsible for collaborating with key suppliers to assess their capabilities, identify opportunities for optimization, and implement initiatives to enhance product quality, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability performance. *This will be hybrid role with office days Tues, Wed, Thursday and remote on Monday and Fridays.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on sustainability criteria, quality standards, cost competitiveness, and capacity.
  • Lead supplier assessment, qualification, and development processes to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers, conducting regular performance reviews to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to suppliers to enhance product quality, manufacturing processes, and sustainability practices.
  • Analyze supply chain data to identify opportunities for optimization, cost reduction, and risk mitigation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to sustainable sourcing and supplier development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier development, quality management, or related roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Strong understanding of lean principles, quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001), and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and managing supplier relationships, with experience in driving improvements in quality, cost, and sustainability performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel as needed to conduct on-site supplier assessments and support development activities
