Position Summary: JMT is seeking an energetic leader with an entrepreneurial spirit to serve as Office Leader for our Columbus, Ohio office. This established office currently employs staff with a variety of technical expertise including highway, bridge, traffic, geotechnical and water resources engineering as well as information technology consultants. These professionals provide services to a variety of local clients such as ODOT, CRAA and ODNR, and also collaborate on exciting projects located throughout JMT's national footprint. The Office Leader is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the office including staffing, business operations, marketing, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for leadership of our statewide transportation engineering practice in Ohio. Our newly constructed office is located within the Easton Town Center, providing our employees a refreshing, collaborative workspace and access to many amenities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the firm's executive leader in Ohio, leading the collaboration, development and implementation of our strategic plan for our statewide business as well as assembling, inspiring and supporting excellent teams.
  • Maintain existing and develop new clients. Special emphasis includes, but is not limited to, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Ohio Turnpike, City of Columbus, Columbus Regional Airport Authority, various counties and other public infrastructure owners.
  • Maintain close liaison with clients to assure satisfaction. Includes daily management of contracts and projects and oversight of other project managers.
  • Responsible for the monitoring and management of work-in-process, billings, outstanding accounts receivable and initial collection efforts for projects.
  • Forecast administrative, staffing, and facility needs for office.
  • Review the design and production work of the staff to ensure that it meets the highest professional standards and is in conformance with company standards.
  • Strive continually to see that work is completed on time, within allocated budget and in accordance with ISO:9001-2015 quality standards.
  • Coordinate with JMT Regional and Corporate Managers on the performance of the office.
  • Coordinate and carry out the marketing and financial objectives and policies.
  • Oversight and development of proposals, procurement procedures and business development activities in collaboration with marketing and other staff.
  • Coordinate assignment of staff resources and coordinate worksharing with other regional offices.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the firm's policies and applicable laws.
  • Interview, hire, train, assign and directing work, appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Maintain professional licensure in Ohio and other jurisdictions as necessary and be responsible for supervising production of construction documents, facility studies, and architectural/engineering reports.
  • Seal/sign construction documents.

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • Registered Engineer in Ohio
  • 15+ years of industry experience including supervisory, project management, and business development

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
