Position Summary:

TESAT Government (an Airbus U.S. subsidiary) is looking for an Engineering Technologist II - Electronics to help with the establishment of a new AI&T production line and project execution. We are looking for candidates who bring a strong test and manufacturing background in space applications with the drive to create something new. The initial electrical testing will be focused on Optical Communications Terminals but will expand over time to other space hardware products, such as start trackers and power systems.

Position Responsibilities

The Engineering Technologist II - Electronics will be responsible for the electrical assembly and test of system hardware and resolving technical issues. This role is hands-on, working in a cleanroom environment with the manufacturing lead and engineering teams. This role will also have frequent interaction with Operations and Quality teams to develop and drive a robust production process including manufacturing engineering, risk mitigation, development of test procedures and repair procedures. The ideal candidate will strive towards growth and possess a strong desire to learn new technologies. Integration and Test: 85%

  • Perform card level and system level testing to include bench testing, thermal testing, vibration testing, and integrated system alignment.
  • Manage and understand the troubleshooting process to drive to root cause or disposition according to production policies.
  • Provide input on development and implementation of functional test procedures.
  • Coordinate with support functions to resolve issues and enable achievement of on time delivery of high-quality products.
  • Maintain all tooling and GSE; ensure calibration certs and maintenance schedules are current.
  • Become the first responder for production related nonconformances or test issues at stations.
  • Become the first responder for production related nonconformances or MGSE/EGSE issues at stations.

Additional Responsibilities: 15%

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • High School diploma, or GED Equivalent
  • Preferred: Associates or Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, electrical engineering, or related field

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in manufacturing engineering, operations, or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the development of RF or Optical communications systems is desired.
  • Experience in systems functional testing.
  • Experience in PCB assembly and testing.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Proficiency with various AI&T engineering tools and processes to include oscilloscopes, Ground Support Equipment, thermal chambers, manual & automated torquing tools, multimeters. etc.
  • Ability to understand multi-level product and manufacturing processes.
  • Able to master how the different systems work to be able to provide support as first responder.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning specifications.
  • Ability to collaborate with team to develop and review documentation and identify process needs.
  • Ability to be an active team player in cross functional teams, collaborate in a respectful, transparent and productive way.
  • Ability to achieve excellence through dedication and maintaining high quality standards.
  • Communicate in a clear and concise manner effectively across multiple levels.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, proven ability to follow direction and meet expectations.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, as required.

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Technical writing skills a plus.
  • Strong ability to understand and teach technical procedures.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience supply management (MPR/ERP) a plus.

Travel Required:

  • Periodic travel (less than 20%) to US Airbus facilities, partner companies or international travel to collaborate with European Airbus counterparts.

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance
  • Active DoD security clearance at Secret or above highly desirable

Nature of Contacts:

Role includes involved communication with internal and external parties on a frequent basis.

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents.
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and outside areas including uneven surfaces.
