How your role fits into Boldt:

The Corporate Director of Safety will create, inspire and maintain a "Safe Thinking" safety culture. This position will employ a "OneBoldt" approach as they lead, direct, facilitate and support "Safe Thinking" safety initiatives for the organization.

The Corporate Director of Safety will be responsible for the vision and direction of safety, including the development of safety leaders. Through planning, leading, evaluating, and continuously improving the awareness and practice of safe construction methods, this position will strive to create an environment encouraging a collaborative working spirit and an integrated culture.


Required Skills

  • Assist in the development, support, deployment, and review of standards and management systems for Health & Safety (H&S) across the organization.
  • Provide quality, timely and professional subject matter expertise and business support to ensure that a safe, sustainable, efficient, and legally compliant work environment is sustained.
  • Direct the development and deployment of H&S programs and management systems to ensure compliance with company and legislative obligations.
  • Support the overall development of H&S management systems across all business units, adapting for the inherent operational differences between each.
  • Drive continuous improvement of safety behaviors and outcomes by delivering methodologies and tools to effectively mitigate identified risks.
  • Act as a safety resource and mentor for project staff.
  • Develop, implement, refine and communicate training initiatives to educate team members on the importance of effective safety behaviors.
  • Review safety metrics with the intent to identify and communicate trends and create plans to mitigate safety issues.
  • Be an active and engaged member and supporter in the communities in which Boldt operates.
  • Lead, develop and mentor corporate safety members as well as regional safety leaders within each operating group.
  • Support employee development through mentoring, training, and performance management

Required Experience

What we expect from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in occupational safety and/or health required.
  • At least ten years' experience in construction and/or industrial safety required.
  • At least five years of direct leadership experience required.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred.

Physical requirements and working conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to position objects and operate tools or controls. Employee occasionally uses computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to position self to maneuver in confined or awkward spaces. The employee regularly is required to remain in a stationary position and move to access people or machinery or workspaces. Employee is occasionally required to ascend and/or descend a ladder or stairs to reach work areas. The employee must regularly move up to 20 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to travel (as vehicle driver and as passenger on various modes of transportation) and frequently performs work on-site at construction work sites. Specific abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor regularly. The employee is required to be able to optimally communicate while on the job site and throughout the completion of duties.

The working conditions of this position requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to maintain safety and prevent exposure to harmful materials. The environment for which this position functions may be exposed to prolonged loud noises and may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
