Position Summary:

Airbus U.S. Space & Defense is looking for a Senior Electrical Power Systems (EPS) & Solar Array Panel (SA) Manufacturing Test Engineer to serve as the focal point for satellites production tests on EPS & SA topics, as well as the design, operation, and updates of the workstation under their responsibility. Secondary responsibilities would include EGSE design, test aids design, and ground harness definition. The person in this role shall serve as the interface between Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams.

Under the direction of the ATLO AIT Manager, the Senior EPS & SA Manufacturing Test Engineer will validate and analyze all test results on EPS & SA subsystems, and they will manage the evolution of the Workstations under their responsibility, which could be linked to routing, EGSE, or Test scripts updates. After reviewing all test performed on Workstations, they will provide the final Go/No Go flight decisions.


Position Responsibilities:

  1. Day-to-Day Activities (80%):
  • Specify the EPS & SA Production Test Plan that will be applied in the factory, leading to a "Go/No Go for flight" decision.
  • Manage the development of EPS & SA Production Tests from specification to application at FAL (Florida Assembly Line)
  • Code Test scripts.
  • Validate and analyze all test results on EPS & SA Topics.
  • Analyze and implement corrective actions on all Non Conformity (NC) on EPS & SA topics.
  • Identify all satellite design impacts on Production tests.
  • Challenge the engineering teams on Satellite Design choices regarding Industrial & Production Test topics.
  • Train FAL operators on all EPS & SA production Tests (objectives, operation and first level analysis of the tests).
  • Manufacture test aids, cabling used for tests or investigations.
  1. Additional Responsibilities (20%):
  • Support development and deployment of EGSE to support test and launch campaigns.
  • Support design and program technical reviews to provide feasibility assessment and impacts to existing test solutions

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) desired, or equivalent work experience

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years of relatable experience with a Bachelor's degree;
  • Or a minimum of 15 years of relatable experience for non-degreed applicants

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Ability to interact with a skilled Engineering team on various specialties (Electrical, Process, tooling).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact with several organization (Supply Chain, Production, Quality, Finance, HR, etc.)
  • Electrical engineering/Power electronics, test methodology, knowledge of Tcl language, configuration management.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, using data and logic to identify alternatives, evaluate, and present approaches to solve complex problems
  • Demonstrate high level of accuracy of work
  • Must be dependable with attendance and follow instructions and directions accurately
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and plan work activities
  • Exhibit flexible attitude and approach to assignments
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to meet goals and deadlines under pressure
  • Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Travel Required:

  • 10% travel (both domestic and international) required; increased travel may be expected during onboarding and training

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance is required

Role includes moderate communication with internal and external parties on a regular basis.

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves
  • Standing: able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and outside areas including uneven surfaces.
