Position Summary:

Airbus U.S. Space & Defense is looking for a Senior Data Handling System (DHS) & Software Manufacturing Test Engineer to serve as the focal point for satellite tests and their implementation for the DHS subsystem, as well as the SW satellite configuration to be used in the FAL. Primary areas of responsibility include test script architecture, test script configuration management, and test script development for all subjects under the responsibility of the AIT Team that supports bus and space vehicle production and test. The incumbent shall be responsible for the operation of the satellite (from a Soft/DHS perspective) to accompany design to manufacturing in the optimal implementation of the tests.

Under the direction of the ATLO AIT Manager, the Senior DHS & Software Manufacturing Test Engineer specifies, validates and analyzes tests related to DHS subsystems, and ensures the application of development rules. They are responsible for managing the development of test sequences applied in the FAL (development, configuration management, management of development branches, etc.).


Position Responsibilities:

  1. Day-to-Day Activities:

DHS Production Test Architect (40%)

  • Defining the test plan that will be implemented in production for DHS subsystems in order to give a "Go for flight" at the end of the assembly line.
  • Specify the tests in its scope and follow their development until their delivery on the assembly line.
  • Develop/modify test scripts.
  • Validate and analyze the results of the tests in his scope.
  • Analyze and propose corrective actions for all non-conformities that fall within his/her scope.
  • Identify all the impacts of a design evolution on the tests.
  • Challenge engineering on the technical choices made for any design evolution within its scope.
  • Train FAL operators on the objectives and implementation of tests.
  • Responsible for the SW Satellite configuration on the FAL.
  • Support the Test Architect in the way the satellite and its equipment should be operated during tests.

Software Test Engineer (40%)

  • The application of development rules by the Test Architect and test engineers.
  • Configuration management of the test sequences and more globally of the development branches.
  • Support the Test Architect in the development and validation of test scripts used on the production line.
  • Develop specific tests for qualification campaigns.
  • Propose improvement paths on coding rules or test implementation to reach performance, robustness and multi-project compatibility objectives of test scripts.
  1. Additional Responsibilities (20%)
  • Support development and deployment of EGSE to support test and launch campaigns.
  • Support design and program technical reviews to provide feasibility assessment and impacts to existing test solutions

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) desired, or equivalent work experience

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years of relatable experience with a Bachelor's degree;
  • Or a minimum of 15 years of relatable experience for non-degreed applicants

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Ability to interact with a skilled Engineering team on various specialties (SW, Electronic, Process, tooling)
  • Strong organizational, analytical, root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact with several organization (Supply Chain, Production, Quality, Finance, HR, etc.)
  • Test methodology, Digital electronics, Serial Bus (CAN, Spacewire), confirmed experience using Tcl language, configuration management.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, using data and logic to identify alternatives, evaluate, and present approaches to solve complex problems
  • Demonstrate high level of accuracy of work
  • Must be dependable with attendance and follow instructions and directions accurately
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and plan work activities
  • Exhibit flexible attitude and approach to assignments
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to meet goals and deadlines under pressure
  • Proficient analytical and reporting skills that allow you to understand and interpret data
  • Enjoys coming up with solutions to increase efficiency in their day-to-day work

Travel Required:

  • 10% travel (both domestic and international) required; increased travel may be expected during onboarding and training

  • U.S. Citizenship

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance is required

  • Role includes moderate communication with internal and external parties on a regular basis.

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves
  • Standing: able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and outside areas including uneven surfaces.
