Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interacts in a professional manner with clients, staff and visitors
  • Patrols buildings and grounds of Opportunities Inc. to identify and assess situations they may affect the Security and Safety of the organization
  • Protects life and property of the Organization and its community
  • Reports any unusual or suspicious activities and inappropriate use of the organization facilities or property
  • Responds to emergencies or preliminary investigations of incidents in a timely manner, including but not limited to, medical / psychological / emotional emergencies, natural disasters, trespassing, theft, vandalism, threats of violence and disturbances
  • Identifies the source or cause of the problem, handles it effectively, and coordinates with appropriate organization administrators or public officials
  • Work with all departments to enforce effective policies regarding parking, building security, alarm systems, and control and facility access
  • Will respond to all incidents while on duty and assist as needed with documentation of the incident
  • Performs other similarly related duties as assigned or required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Background in security, or military preferred

Important Skills

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for the position of security supervisor so subordinates know how to do their jobs and what to be on the lookout for.
  • Supervisors must have a good working knowledge of management practices and principles so he can efficiently perform his job.
  • The job requires someone with critical thinking skills who can quickly observe a situation and make the appropriate response.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal, communications skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse work environment

  • Knowledge and understanding of safety and security procedures and the ability to establish priorities

  • Ability to work effectively in any environment and work well with others

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.5. Ability to pass a pre-employment background and criminal history check

  • Must be able to handle emergencies in a calm and efficient manner

  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license and be insurable.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position include:

  • Considerable walking and climbing stairs in all weather conditions
  • Ability to independently lift up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to perform bending, squatting, twisting, crawling, and climbing
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods
  • Hearing and speaking abilities to effectively communicate through radio equipment and in person
  • Visual ability operate equipment safely.
