What we need

The Value Stream Manager (VSM) reports is a strategic partner in manufacturing operations with responsibility for leading a Product Value Stream to achieve required business results. The VSM ensures products in the Value Stream are manufactured with the highest level of safety that will meet or exceed customer expectations with regards to quality and delivery. The position is responsible for all Value Stream functions and employees including Supervisors, Planner(s), Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineer(s), Team Leads, and Production Team Members.

What you'll be doing:

  • Maintains a safe work environment, a high level of safety awareness and compliance among associates, and implements workplace organization principles.
  • Provides guidance, direction and leadership to ensure that products are manufactured with the highest level of safety that will meet or exceed customer expectations with regards to quality and delivery.
  • Conducts fact-based analysis using lean techniques to manage a Value Stream that eliminates waste and drives continuous process improvement.
  • Builds strong alliances across all functions and is strategic liaison to internal/external suppliers and customers.
  • Mentors and develops direct reports and the entire Value Stream team. Actively participates with, encourages and leads all Value Stream members to improved levels of work ethic, morale and productivity while meeting or achieving internal and external customer expectations.
  • Establishes goals, sets priorities and coordinates all related activities within the Value Stream to ensure drive and focus towards meeting or exceeding established common business goals and financial objectives.
  • Monitors, reviews and improves manufacturing and quality related activities and drives corrective and preventative actions using structured problem solving.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, scheduling and organizing work assignments within the company policies and procedures.
  • Provides leadership guidance during Lean Daily Management (LDM) meetings.
  • Set key process indicators (KPIs). Measure performance, identify gaps and implement countermeasures.
  • Create and manage a value stream plan
  • Performs all job duties in a safe manner, consistent with the company Code of Ethics, follows all ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards, and ensures commitment and compliance to all OSHA requirements.
  • Lead and support the development of value stream employees and succession planning activities in the area of responsibility.
  • Performs other duties and cross training as assigned.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree required - Degree in Engineering is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in a manufacturing environment with leadership experience.
  • Possess a working knowledge of other business functions such as Logistics, Finance, Sales, Engineering, and Human Resources in addition to Manufacturing and Quality.
  • Leadership and data driven decision making ability.
  • Proven experience in making improvements and achieving significant, sustainable gains.
  • Possess a continuous process improvement mindset with the ability to effectively lead and manage change.
  • Knowledge and experience in Lean techniques. Ability to Lead and/or facilitate Lean events
  • Proficient in process auditing.
  • Ability to understand advanced levels of product line knowledge.
  • Strong project communication, management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be able to travel as needed; expected to be less than 10%
