Position Overview
Marquette University School of Dentistry (MUSoD) seeks qualified candidates for a newly created full time faculty position in the Department of Community Dental Sciences to serve as Director of the Graduate Practice Residency (GPR) Program. The Director has primary responsibility for the recruitment, training, and supervision of postgraduate students specializing in General Practice Residency. The Director will provide leadership in strategic planning, curriculum management, and financial responsibility and must ensure that the program complies with the programmatic requirements as laid out by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

As Wisconsin's only dental school, MUSoD is answering the call to meet workforce needs, increase access to oral health care for underserved patients, and advance dental education in Wisconsin. MUSoD serves the community on its main campus in Milwaukee and in outreach clinics across the State of Wisconsin.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Key Responsibilities as defined by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation for the GPR Director include the following:
a. Program administration;
b. Development and implementation of the curriculum plan;
c. Ongoing evaluation of program content, faculty teaching, and resident performance;
d. Evaluation of resident training and supervision in affiliated institutions and off-services rotations;
e. Maintenance of records related to the educational program;
f. Resident selection

2. Provide leadership in curriculum development and management using an evidence-based approach to post graduate education and clinical care.

3. Maintain compliance with CODA for all GPR program requirements.

4. Serve as liaison between MUSoD and the hospital partner for all GPR programmatic requirements.

5. Ensure compliance with all hospital/Graduate Medical Education (GME) requirements.

6. Conduct strategic planning, and financial oversight of the GPR program.

7. Recruit and select, train, supervise, and evaluate GPR residents.

8. Approve the selection of program faculty as appropriate.

9. Provide and/or oversee quality didactic and clinical instruction to GPR residents in clinic and operating rooms.

10. Ensure that affiliation agreements required by CODA are completed and updated as needed.

11. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
DDS/DMD degree from a US or Canadian dental school recognized by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation, or a comparable foreign degree.

A valid US state dental license, and be eligible for a regular license or faculty license in the State of Wisconsin.

Successful completion of either the CODA accredited 1) General Practice Residency (GPR) Program or 2) Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program.

Ability to obtain hospital privileges at the sponsoring hospital.

Experience providing dental care in a hospital setting.

Experience in leading and developing academic programs and working with others to advance the broader institution.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Appropriate leadership and managerial skills, effective communication, personnel and budget management, and advocacy.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Prior experience in developing and/or managing a CODA accredited GPR program.
