Molding Department Lead

Position Summary

In this job you will be responsible for leading a team to operate and set up machinery to produce polyurethane couplings that range in a wide variety of sizes and configurations. You can expect to partner with other departments to ensure machines function properly, and that quality standards are met for the parts being produced.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct start-up meetings that effectively communicate the daily goals and previous shift performance
  • Ensure that department follows and stays on schedule through maintaining of visual schedule board
  • Ensure that department is aware of day-to-day targets and responsibilities
  • Ensure full adherence to 6s (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain and Safety) practices at all times
  • Monitor time and attendance for production associates via e-mail communication
  • Communication of shift/equipment status via end of shift report
  • Ensure that production associates follow define manufacturing procedures and comply with quality requirements
  • Lead by example, coach others on procedure, team work, and exemplify positive behavior
  • Assist in training of new personnel
  • Collaborate closely with other departments in the execution of tasks during or at the end of the shift
  • Accurately maintain Visual Daily Management Boards
  • Must work independently without direct supervision
  • Maintain inventory accuracy
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
  • Report daily production in SAP
  • Ability to become forklift certified (sit down)
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic software and production issues that arise throughout the shift
  • Work directly with maintenance department to resolve issues related to molding department equipment
  • Ability to perform all responsibilities of Molding Machine Operator and Tool Crib Operator

Experience and Skill Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1-2 years of molding experience preferred.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Able to effectively communicate and work in a team environment.
  • Detail oriented with time management skills.
  • Ability to document and record basic information.
  • Knowledge of and ability to solve problems that have standard solutions.
  • Basic problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • A 40-50 hour work week (Monday through Friday) with ability to come in early and/or stay late.
  • Overtime may be required as needed to meet production demands, including working Saturdays.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and stretching.
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 35 pounds at a time, including up to 50 pounds with assistance.
