Safety Coordinator - Kapco Grafton, WI

Kapco Inc. is looking for a Safety Coordinator at our Grafton, WI location. This position is a change agent and culture keeper that develops and designs systems to protect people from illness, injury, and property from damage.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, implement, sustain, and monitor compliance of safety systems, standards, practices, and policies that prevent people from getting sick or injured and keep property from being damaged.
  • Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to ensure safety requirements are met and participate on safety analysis for new product development.
  • Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting and auditing facilities, machinery, and safety equipment. Verify implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Review employee safety programs and recommend and implement improvements.
  • Train new employees in safety orientation. Train workers in safety standard work, safety work instructions, practices and procedures as assigned. Assist teams to arrive at the root cause(s) and to develop an action plan and follow up system that eliminates reoccurrence. Investigates workplace accidents.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain safety database for incident reporting and investigations, audits, and safety data sheets (SD) on the shared drive and SDS books as necessary.
  • Provides other safety related support as needed or requested, participates on teams as needed, and completes other projects and duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in environmental health & safety, engineering or similar discipline is preferred.
  • Three to five years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to effectively communicate at all organizational levels.
