90% FTE, 8/10 hour day/evening shifts with a range of hours between 8:30am-8:30pm. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will be working at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Surg/OR - Pre/Post to:

  • Be responsible for independent peri-anesthetic management of a complex, varied surgical population.
  • Develop a therapeutic relationship by establishing trust and enabling the patient and/or family to verbalize the requirements for care comfortably.

Education:

Minimum - Associates Degree - Nursing (ADN).

Preferred - Bachelor of Science - Nursing (BSN).

Work Experience:

Minimum - Six (6) months of RN experience.

Preferred -

  • Experience working pre/post operatively with varied surgical patient populations.
  • Emergency nursing, critical care, medical/surgical, or ambulatory surgery center experience.
  • Moderate sedation and cardiac monitoring experience.
  • One (1) year or more of RN experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum - Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state(s) where patients are receiving care or may work as eligible per state licensing regulations. Basic Life Support/CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) if assigned to work in the PACU.

Preferred - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
