POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION:

Lead a team responsible for Server Infrastructure and Middleware Integration Development and Infrastructure, ensuring the availability and stability of the server environment and middleware systems. Also responsible for overseeing the daily operations of datacenter operations, ensuring its reliability, availability, and security. Lead and participate in projects relating to the design, installation, administration, and optimization of server infrastructure, datacenter, and middleware integration to achieve high performance in the areas of data, application, and system integration. Guide the team to develop solutions and direct activities of Server, datacenter and Middleware Engineers in the implementation and daily administration of Business and Manufacturing Server Infrastructure, datacenter, and Middleware Integration to support the business's global IT footprint.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in technology, Business, or related field OR commensurate experience
  • Four plus years' experience in Information Technology or related experience
  • Experience participating in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be on-call to support a global manufacturing environment that operates 24 X 7
  • Capability to travel, as project load requires.
  • Four years of experience implementing and configuring server hardware and middleware systems.
  • Strong technical support documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate and present effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Self-motivated and directed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience leading or managing geographically separated teams.
  • Experience in server capacity planning.
  • Experience in datacenter capacity planning.
  • Experience managing server and datacenter assets in a manufacturing environment.
  • Project management skills in leading IT server operations initiatives in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Four plus years' IT Server operations experience in a complex multi-site environment.
  • Four plus years' datacenter operations experience in a complex multi-site environment
  • Experienced server, datacenter and middleware diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with cloud computing using Azure and AWS.
  • Experience with Smart Manufacturing projects.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Supervise and guide Server and Middleware Engineers to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate server infrastructure and middleware systems to meet business demands.
  • Supervise and guide datacenter technicians and engineers to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of the datacenter infrastructure.
  • Supervise the Managed Service Provider to provide server and Middleware Operations where appropriate.
  • Review and improve IT Server infrastructure and datacenter procurement and ordering of server-related equipment and services.
  • Maintain accuracy of IT Server and datacenter assets in the asset management tool.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute processes for digital technology standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure resources are aligned effectively to support the business needs.
  • Develop partnerships with stakeholders to ensure solutions are aligned with business objectives.
  • Follow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of in-house and/or outsourced server environments for managing and maintaining global server infrastructure at a high level of reliability and availability.
  • Participate in key process improvement initiatives as they relate to the server and middleware environments.
  • Act as a project participant in the design and review of server and data center infrastructure. Manage projects as appropriate.
  • Assign project and support initiatives to server and middleware engineer resources.
  • Regularly conduct asset management and capacity planning exercises, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor server performance, capacity and reliability metrics on an ongoing basis making recommendations for improvement as appropriate.
  • Lead and participate in server audits, failover, and recovery tests.
  • Implement and maintain functional policies and procedures, including those for server architecture and standards.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of server design efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost-effectiveness and systems flexibility.
  • Document the business's existing server and technology portfolio; make recommendations to Senior Server. Datacenter Engineer and Analysts for improvements and/or other performance and cost-effective options.
  • Assure IT Server Operations service levels are met, conduct root cause analysis on recurring failures and recommend and or implement corrective actions.
  • Work with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to procure and deliver server products and services. Lead actions as appropriate.
  • Provide day-to-day maintenance and technical support of the server infrastructure.
  • Participate in on-call support rotation and Tier II / Tier III support.
  • Follow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements.

  • Supervise the Server, Datacenter Infrastructure and Middleware Integration Team.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to: IT Infrastructure and Datacenter Manager

POSITION CHALLENGES:

  • Adjusting priorities as business circumstances require
  • Managing multiple tasks/projects to successful completion fast-moving environment
  • Communicating technical solutions to non-technical professionals
  • Travel up to 20% of time to support Charter sites.
