Job Description

Instructional Designer located in Madison, WI. Our client is a government agency looking for high-quality talent to make a difference. They are known to respect a traditional work week and often extend contracts for added job security and stability.

Note: PART-TIME ROLE (20-35 hours per week based on project need).

Job Description:

  • This assignment is to lead an effort to identify, consult, modernize, consolidate a portfolio of web-based courses currently housed in the learning management system.
  • Also, the project entails consolidation and redesign of existing Lectora courses to prepare curriculum for LMS migration to WorkDay Learning.
  • The project requires strong consulting, and instructional design skills.

An independent instructional designer contractor to deliver and perform the following:

  • Consult with subject matter experts and content owners to identify learning objectives and to recommend learning approaches/solutions to streamline, combine and enhance existing web-based curriculum
  • Build effective relationships and partner with subject matter experts and division leaders to gather content information, determine and implement highly effective learning solutions with planned reviews
  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content specific to Adult Learning
  • Convert web based Lectora courses to Articulate 360
  • Design e-Learning courses that apply adult learning principles and engages the audience while achieving learning objectives
  • Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product
  • Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design
  • Manage project by providing project requirements and schedules, updates on milestones, course reviews and feedback to ensure on time delivery
  • Make edits and enhancements as needed to ensure content is up to date, professional and maintains a modern look and feel.

Required Skills:

  • Tech-savvy with 7 plus years of experience in designing and delivering web-based training
  • Strong knowledge of Instructional Systems Design (ISD) models; well versed in Adult Learning principles and teaching methods such as: ADDIE, SAM, Agile
  • Strong writing and editing skills; excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and creative/resourceful problem-solving skills
  • Ability to conduct front-end needs analysis and back-end learning evaluation and measurement.
  • Highly skilled in Consulting, Project Management, Storyboarding and Script Writing.
  • Proficiency with leading content development, tools, and methodologies, including WorkDay Learning, Articulate 360, Articulate Studio suite, Lectora. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat). Advanced PowerPoint skills
  • Candidate must have examples of materials they have designed and developed
  • Candidate must have their own electronic equipment e.g., computer, software (Articulate, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems.
